Chongqing Dance School aims at cultivating knowledge-based professional dance talents, pays equal attention to both specialty and culture, and pays attention to transporting qualified secondary school graduates for art colleges and universities. The school has good running conditions, advanced teaching facilities and a high-level teacher team with both ability and political integrity. Graduates of this school obtained 100% online rate and 100% professional pass rate by taking part in the national college entrance examination. In 2002, Chongqing Dance School was identified as the back-up student base of Beijing Dance Academy because of its standardized teaching and good school-running effect, and received teaching support and cooperation from China Theatre Academy, Nanjing Art Academy, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Jiangnan University and other national key higher art colleges.

In order to turn Chongqing Dance School into a window school of the municipality directly under the Central Government, the school has received strong support from Chongqing Municipal People's Government, CPPCC, Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese Revolutionary Committee and Jiulongpo District People's Government. More than 60 mu of land has been requisitioned, and a modern dance professional school is being built. In September, 2004, the school will be moved to the new teaching building located in Jiulong Park, Chongqing High-tech Zone, and the teaching facilities and teachers can enter through a flight of stairs.
