1997 The School of Foreign Languages of Nankai University was established in June+10, 5438. Its predecessor was the English Department of the College of Literature of Nankai University, which was established in June +09 19, 5438. When the English Department was founded, both the number of teachers and the number of students were the first in all departments of Nankai University. The first dean was Professor Chen Kui, who graduated from the University of Nebraska. The following year, Mr. Liu Wuji, the son of Dr. Liu Yazi, a famous scholar at Yale University, took over. Soon, Ms. Stuart Yuelan, a master of the University of California, also came to Nankai, making the English Department in a leading position in the country. 1937, due to the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he moved south to Kunming, and together with Tsinghua and Peking University, he established the The National SouthWest Associated University English Department.

From 65438 to 0949, with the birth of New China, the English Department of Nankai University was reborn. 1960, 1972 With the approval of the Ministry of Education, Russian and Japanese majors were added to the Department of Foreign Languages, which initially improved the professional settings. From the founding of New China to the 1990s, Professor Li, a famous writer, translator and leader of the May 4th New Culture Movement, was the head of the department, and was succeeded by Professor Chang, a doctor of American literature and doctoral supervisor. 1997 Professor Liu Shicong is the Dean.
