(1) Professional Introduction: The Foreign Affairs College is a liberal arts foreign language college affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to train compound talents in foreign affairs. Founded in 1955, it was personally initiated by Premier Zhou Enlai, and Chen Yi, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State Council, served as the first president of the Foreign Affairs University. The college now has teaching and research institutions such as the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of English, the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of International Law, the Department of International Economics, the Department of Basic Education, the graduate department, the Adult Education College, the International Law School, and the Institute of International Relations. Over the past 50 years, * * * has trained nearly 20,000 students of all kinds, including more than 30 ministers in the government, more than 250 ambassadors abroad, more than 1000 counsellors in foreign embassies, and directors and bureau-level posts in various domestic departments, as well as professors and scholars with senior titles. Over the past decade, an average of more than 50 graduates have been admitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs every year. Long-term on-the-job training courses for cadres of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and training courses for senior diplomats have been held.
The School of International Relations under the Foreign Affairs University teaches international relations. The major of international relations is based on the systematic study of the history of international relations, focusing on the special study of international relations in many countries and regions, cooperating with the theoretical construction of international relations and the forward-looking research of contemporary theoretical trends, paying attention to the comparative analysis of the security strategy, diplomatic strategy and foreign policy of countries and groups, summarizing their development characteristics and laws, and highlighting the guiding and decisive role of the overall national strategy in the national branch strategy and foreign policy. This major trains senior researchers in diplomacy, foreign affairs and international relations who are familiar with Marxism–Leninism's basic theory, have good political quality, extensive basic theory, professional knowledge and reasonable knowledge structure, and have independent research ability and innovative spirit. In terms of ideological and political morality, we attach importance to self-cultivation education, especially patriotism, collectivism, socialism, national awareness and organizational discipline education. In teaching, we should not only pay attention to the teaching of basic theory courses, but also pay attention to the training of basic skills and abilities. We should not only pay attention to the improvement of foreign language level, but also pay attention to the mastery of basic knowledge such as diplomatic business, economy and law, so as to achieve the goal of cultivating compound talents with the combination of politics and business, Chinese and foreign, and theory and practice.
(2) Business training requirements: Students in this major are required to take the 16-character policy of "stand firm, master policies, be familiar with business and strictly observe discipline" as their school motto, adhere to the systematic history, theories and methods of international relations, highlight diplomatic characteristics, and emphasize the close integration of international relations with China's national strategy and foreign policy of reform and opening up.
(3) Graduates should have the following knowledge and abilities:
1. Good thinking, reliable politics and solid professional foundation. Master the basic principles of Marxism and the basic theory of international relations;
2. Proficient in business and foreign languages. Proficient in using at least two foreign languages and working independently;
3. A wide range of knowledge. Master the basic theory and knowledge of this major, as well as the knowledge of international law, international economy and international politics related to this major;
4. Strong Chinese basic skills and writing skills, as well as communication and negotiation skills;
5. Have a certain practical working ability and research ability, as well as the initial ability to engage in international research.
(4) The main research directions are: modern international relations history, postwar international relations history, international relations theory research, international security introduction research, research methodology, contemporary international relations, contemporary China diplomacy research, contemporary American foreign policy research, contemporary Russian diplomacy research, Asia-Pacific international relations, Middle East international relations, American diplomatic history research, international political thoughts research, development research, globalization and global governance research. Contemporary Russian political studies, European-American relations studies, countries in transition studies, world war history studies, economic diplomacy, Japanese diplomacy, European Union studies, human rights and international relations, and great power strategy studies.
(5) Main practical teaching links: including visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Liaison Department, the embassy in China, and participating in social surveys and internships of Xinhua News Agency.

(7) Teacher introduction: At present, there are 7 doctoral supervisors, 4 associate professors and 2 lecturers in the discipline of diplomacy, all of whom have studied abroad or given lectures, or worked in China's embassy abroad, and have excellent research results and foreign exchange ability.
