Morinda officinalis is the dried root of Morinda officinalis in Rubiaceae, which is only recorded in the top grade of Shennong Materia Medica Classic, also known as Morinda officinalis, phoenix tail, triangle and so on. Location: Guangdong, Guangxi and other places. It has the effects of tonifying kidney, strengthening yang, strengthening tendons and bones, expelling wind and removing dampness. The chemical constituents of Morinda officinalis include anthraquinones, iridoid glycosides, organic acids, sugars, glycosides, amino acids and trace elements.

Anthraquinones are one of its important components. In this paper, the 95% ethanol extract was separated and its structure was identified. Methyl isothiourea and alizarin were separated from it by using the classical pH gradient separation principle, and different forms of anthraquinone derivatives in Morinda officinalis were determined by appropriate extraction and hydrolysis methods, so as to better understand the components and functions of Morinda officinalis. With 1, 8-dihydroxy anthraquinone as reference substance, the content of anthraquinone was determined by spectrophotometry using the color reaction of anthraquinone with magnesium acetate.
