The School of Foreign Languages of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications was founded in 200 1, and its predecessor was the original foreign languages department of the school, and later it was changed to the foreign languages department. After fifteen years of development and construction, the soft and hard environment of the college has been greatly improved, and a special foreign language building has been established. The college has teaching and research institutions such as English major teaching department, college English teaching department I, college English teaching department II, postgraduate English teaching department, foreign language education resources and audio-visual education center, foreign language and literature research center, language testing research center, information technology literature translation research institute, and management service institutions such as student affairs office and party and government office. There are 85 faculty members, including 7 professors, 28 associate professors, 4 doctors/kloc-0 and 60 masters. More than two thirds of teachers have overseas study or research experience. The college always puts talent training in the first place. Relying on the characteristics and advantages of school information science, we actively explore the reform of "English+information technology+direction" talent training mode, create the characteristics of "it English" and "IT translation", lay a solid foundation for cultivating compound foreign language talents and continuously improve the quality of talent training. The College undertakes the task of teaching college English to more than 20,000 undergraduates and nearly 3,000 postgraduates and training 548 English majors. From 2065438 to March 2004, foreign language and literature disciplines were added as the authorization points for master's degree in translation, so as to cultivate high-level, applied and information technology translation talents. Teaching construction in colleges and universities adheres to humanistic tradition and promotes humanistic quality. In addition to the wonderful classroom, we should also strive to build a second classroom composed of extracurricular practical activities such as English speech contest, debate contest, foreign teachers' lectures, English corner, English drama culture festival, and a third classroom based on practice and training base. Advanced English and College English have become "Chongqing Excellent Courses". School students have achieved excellent results in national and Chongqing English speech contest, debate contest, writing contest and national English contest. The scores of CET-4 and CET-6 have exceeded the national average over the years, ranking among the best in Chongqing. English majors are well received by the society, and the one-time employment rate is over 95%. By giving full play to the advantages of teachers and streamlining the subject direction, the college has made outstanding achievements in five research fields: foreign literature, theoretical linguistics, translation, foreign language education, language testing and language engineering, and has distinctive characteristics in language education research and language testing based on information technology.
