Requirements: Add a binding line 3 cm from the top of the page.

Method 1:

1. Sets the margin of the gutter.

(1) Open the Word document and click the Expand button in the lower right corner of the Page Layout-Page Setup group, as shown.

(2) Open the page setup dialog box, select the margins tab, enter 3cm in the gutter value box, select the upper option in the gutter position drop-down list, and click OK.

However, the default binding line has no text and lines, only a blank binding line area, and then we need to manually add binding line lines and text.

2. Add binding lines and lines.

(1) Click the "Insert-Illustration-Shape" button and select the "Text Box" option in the pop-up drop-down menu.

There are more than one kind of text and lines used to add the gutter. We can also click the Insert-Shape button, select line insertion, and then set the line type, thickness, color and other parameters of the line, as shown in the figure below.
