I have flat feet, and my treatment experience is similar to yours, but it didn't cost you that much. I didn't wear orthopedic shoes before. My uncle is an associate professor at the University of Hong Kong. He said that the arch pad can't have any effect. It doesn't make sense, and researchers don't believe it. I have always been skeptical, but I didn't consider it because it was too expensive.
A casual search actually found such a statement, which is from a research institute, which is similar to what my uncle said and more thorough. Also put forward a completely different treatment method for flatfoot, which is also a completely different orthopedic shoes. The soles of this kind of shoes are high in the front and low in the back.
I didn't quite understand, so I asked my uncle for advice. He said it was reasonable, it should be a good method, at least it won't have any adverse effects.
Fortunately, the price is not expensive, 298 yuan, so I bought a pair. I didn't think it was really good. At first, my heel hurt and my calf hurt. Telephone consultation said it was normal, but I'm not used to it now. It will be fine in a few days. In a few days, I will be all right. The most gratifying thing is that I can walk a long way, which makes me very happy. The manufacturer also said that the arch will gradually rise over time. I think it seems a little, but it's not obvious. But I am satisfied that I can walk a long way. Since you are in such a hurry, recommend it, and don't forget to give me extra points.

Why does orthopedic insole have poor effect in correcting flat feet?
There are many hazards of flat feet. Flat feet have genetic factors, many of which are acquired factors. Acquired flat feet are mostly related to inappropriate shoes. Flat feet also have something to do with exercise. Insufficient recovery after exercise is easy to cause flatfoot, which belongs to sports flatfoot. At present, there are two treatments for flatfoot, surgical treatment and conservative treatment. Conservative treatment is mainly to reduce arch pressure and exercise plantar muscle function.
Orthopedic insole for flatfoot correction is a conventional instrument for flatfoot correction and treatment. At present, there are many kinds of flat-footed corrective shoes, some of which are added to ordinary shoes, also called arch pads, some of which are specially made abroad, and even processed into flat-footed corrective shoes, which are naturally expensive. However, the current scientific research shows that the effect is not as good as claimed to improve the arch (biomechanical effect evaluation of arch pad in the treatment of flat foot). Moreover, in the large-scale control group study published by San Diego scholars in the United States in 1989, a negative conclusion was reached: 85% children with flat feet at the age of two or three were improved at the age of six or seven after treatment with corrective shoes; But 85% who don't wear corrective shoes have been improved; This shows that children's flat feet can improve themselves in the development process, and the arch pad has no effect on the correction of flat feet. This result also applies to adults.
Normal arch is maintained by bones, ligaments and muscles, commonly known as three lines of defense. Flat-footed orthopedic insoles can't help the three in principle. They can neither repair bones nor strengthen ligaments and muscles, which can support those negative research conclusions. However, those research reports that prove that the footbed is effective have the same problem, that is, all patients are required to exercise while using the footbed, which cannot explain the function of the footbed. In order to prove the function of arch pad, the factors of muscle movement must be excluded. At present, there is no research report that flat feet can be improved by simply using the insole for correcting flat feet.
According to the biomechanical theory of arch, the orthopedic insole of flat foot may also have adverse effects on the health of arch. First of all, we must understand the results of the arch. The arch of the foot consists of upper and lower parts, which can be vividly compared to the structure of a bow and arrow. The upper part is like the back of a bow, and the lower part is like a bowstring. The bowstring of the arch of the foot is plantar aponeurosis, which starts from the calcaneal tubercle and divides forward into five tendons, ending in the flexor tendon sheath and the transverse metatarsal ligament, maintaining the longitudinal arch, just like a bowstring. Plantar aponeurosis is an important structure to maintain the arch of the foot. If you relax this arch string, the height of the arch will inevitably decrease.
The function of the arch pad is to support the arch back of the arch, but before supporting the arch back, it has already played a very unfavorable role in the plantar aponeurosis. This hard pad is installed under the arch of the foot. When people stand and walk, the plantar aponeurosis is constantly squeezed and pulled, so that the plantar aponeurosis is stretched and relaxed. When people put on shoes to correct their arches, they will feel pain in the soles of their feet, that is, the hard arch pad is stretching the plantar aponeurosis. If people wear hard corrective insoles for a long time, the consequences are unimaginable. Therefore, although many people spend a lot of money on arch correction shoes, they are still unwilling to wear them, or even if they wear them, they rarely walk, which objectively protects the health of the arch. The biggest problem in the design of arch pad is that it ignores the function of plantar aponeurosis as a "bowstring", which is very important. The arch of the foot is a whole composed of "arch back" and "bow string", which cannot be separated, and the supporting role of "arch back" is emphasized mechanically, which is contrary to the physiological and mechanical structure of the foot. Some travel shoes or sports shoes also add arch pads to the soles, which can't play a positive role. However, because they are all made of very soft sea or foam, although there is no good effect, the negative effect should not be great. They just create a commercial stunt and selling point, and there is no scientific basis for merchants to publicize and protect the archway.
Another problem of correcting the orthopedic insole of flat foot is that the sole has heels, which is also a mistake in principle. This is the pseudo-scientific statement that middle heel shoes are good for health. Shoes with heels are harmful to the health of feet, regardless of heel height, especially for patients with flat feet. The core theory of middle-heeled shoes is that middle-heeled shoes can make the sole stress uniform, but uniformity does not mean rationality. Let's take a look at the picture above. The arch of the foot is not a uniform and symmetrical structure, and the rear part is much stronger than the front part in terms of muscles, bones and ligaments. So it is reasonable to let the back of the foot bear more gravity, but it is unreasonable to let the front and back bear the same gravity. Therefore, it is a low-level mistake to say that middle-heeled shoes are good for health, and there is no scientific basis. For patients with flat feet, shoes with heels are not suitable. Heels of any height will increase the stress in the front of the weak arch, resulting in a decrease in the height of the arch. The medical profession recognizes that barefoot is good for health, and the mechanical state of flat shoes and barefoot is basically the same. Therefore, from the perspective of pure health, shoes should not have heels, let alone heels as flat-footed corrective shoes for treating foot diseases. For more information, please refer to the paper Biomechanical Analysis of Existing Shoemaking Theory and the popular science article Right and Wrong between Shoes and Health. In view of the popular pseudo-scientific statement that there is no scientific basis, we have specially set up a reward. No matter who can prove that this statement is scientific, we will get a reward of 30,000 yuan (see the original academic reward method for details). Patients generally report that wearing flat shoes has stronger walking ability and lighter symptoms than wearing shoes with heels.
When we study physical training and low back pain rehabilitation training, we also pay great attention to the rehabilitation of flat feet. Fitness training shoes are heel shoes with high soles and low soles (equivalent to the principle of walking backwards). Some patients with low back pain also suffer from flat feet. After wearing negative heel shoes, the symptoms of low back pain improved and the arch height gradually increased. This is an unexpected discovery, but it is reasonable in theory:
One-piece training shoes are negative heel shoes with high soles and low soles, so that the stress on the heel is the greatest, and the stress on the arch is also greatly reduced, which is beneficial to maintaining the height of the arch.
Second, wearing shoes with high front and low back can fully exercise tibialis anterior, posterior tibial muscle, peroneal longus muscle and gastrocnemius muscle during walking. The strength of these muscle tissues is conducive to the maintenance and improvement of the arch of the foot.
This kind of shoes with high front and low back are common in Europe and America, and are called "ground sports shoes" in the United States. It is said that they originated from a yoga instructor's perception of barefoot walking footprints and described the feeling of wearing these shoes as "walking barefoot on the beach". Walking barefoot on the beach and grass is also the doctor's advice for patients with flat feet. Walking barefoot on the beach, the stress on the heel is definitely the greatest, and the depression of the heel is also the deepest, just like shoes with high front and low back. This change of plantar stress is beneficial to the walking of patients with flat feet and to relieve pain.
As we all know, many flatfeet can be treated by exercise. If the muscles, ligaments and muscles behind the calf are exercised, and their strength can tighten the bowstring of the sole of the foot, then flat feet can be corrected and restored to a certain extent. There are many self-exercise methods for flat feet, but they are generally difficult to adhere to, or it is difficult to work because the intensity or frequency of exercise is not enough. Wearing a negative heel should be more effective. Walking with negative heels, the muscles behind the calf will get exercises that are impossible to get at ordinary times, which is bound to have positive significance.
This is our ongoing research topic, so I want to share this article with my research colleagues. I hope interested research institutions and personnel can contact us, track more cases and conduct more in-depth research. We can provide negative heel shoes (body training shoes) with high front and low back according to the actual needs of patients, including customization. The cooperative units and personnel shall make detailed records and follow-up on the patient's condition, and regularly summarize and report the results to our unit. For the participating researchers, we can provide financial support for scientific research collaboration as appropriate, so that this research can be carried out in depth and benefit patients with flatfoot.
