The school has always adhered to the principle of combining "indomitable spirit" with scientific and technological work, aimed at the forefront of international science and technology, closely focused on the national strategic needs and regional development needs, and actively carried out applied basic research and applied technology research for agricultural production, forming distinctive characteristics and advantages in the research fields of animal and plant breeding, plant protection, agricultural biotechnology, agricultural water-saving technology in arid areas, and comprehensive control of soil erosion in the Loess Plateau.

Since its establishment, the school has accumulated more than 6,000 scientific and technological achievements and won more than 1.800 awards. It has cultivated important scientific and technological achievements such as the excellent wheat variety Bima 1 with the largest cumulative promotion area in the world, the distant hybrid wheat variety Xiaoyan 6, which has long dominated the upgrading of wheat varieties in China, and the excellent apple variety Qinguan with the largest independent cultivation and promotion area in China. The direct economic benefits of promotion and transformation have accumulated over 300 billion yuan.

Since the joint school, it has won 44 national science and technology awards, including 15; Presided over the completion of 87 first prizes of provincial and ministerial scientific and technological achievements; Won the highest achievement award of scientific and technological progress in Shaanxi Province (1). State-authorized invention patents 1529; 594 new varieties of animals and plants were approved.

Published 26,020 papers on SCI, EI and SSCI, including 33 papers on SCI, EI and SSCI17, and 20 papers on kloc-0/9 were the first signatories. At present, there are 8 first-class societies of agriculture, forestry and water in Shaanxi Province, editing and publishing 20 kinds of academic journals, and establishing university press.

Facing the development needs of national and regional leading industries, the school actively carries out the demonstration, popularization and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements. Take the lead in exploring and practicing the new mode of agricultural science and technology popularization based on colleges and universities in China, and build the first batch of new rural development research institutes in China.

It has established scientific and technological cooperation with more than 500 local governments or leading enterprises, established 28 agricultural science and technology experimental demonstration stations and 46 demonstration bases in regional leading industrial centers, and built a fast channel for agricultural science and technology achievements in colleges and universities to enter the village and create direct economic benefits of more than 80 billion yuan. School Science Park and Overseas Students Pioneer Park entered the first batch of national university science parks.
