Structure of argumentative essay

1. The structure of argumentative essays can generally be divided into four types: total score (total score, total score) structure, parallel structure, hierarchical structure and positive and negative contrast structure.

(1) total score structure. As the name implies, the total score structure always says first and then points. (If the argument is divided first, then the general argument is called "sub-general structure", and then the general argument is called "general structure of total score". For example, in The Six Kingdoms, after putting forward the argument, the article then expounds that "the disadvantage lies in the blame" and "those who don't pay bribes will lose their lives" and then demonstrates the truth that "the disadvantage lies in bribing Qin" from two aspects: "those who pay bribes" and "those who don't pay bribes".

(2) Parallel structure. Break down the argument into several aspects, and the relationship between these aspects is parallel. Let's take a look at Wen Ding's The Art of Laughter. After the author put forward the argument that "if you want healthy laughter to accompany your life and make your life happy, you must cultivate noble sentiments and know the art of laughter", the author started from "healthy laughter comes from the heart", "contentment is the source of laughter", "humor is the key to laughter" and "rich life is the condition of laughter".

(3) Hierarchical structure. Hierarchical structure also divides the argument into several aspects, but different from parallel structure, the contents of several aspects of hierarchical structure have a deeper relationship than one. For example, when we demonstrate the meaning of "seeking truth from facts", we can demonstrate it from three aspects: the role of seeking truth from facts on individuals, the role of seeking truth from facts on collectives and the role of the state. From small to large, the role of these three aspects will continue to increase and the level will continue to deepen. Reading Happiness with Thinking also discusses three aspects: noble thinking creates eternal happiness, happiness is the crystallization of changing our way of thinking, and changing our way of thinking does not mean occupying happiness and happiness with Ah Q's spiritual victory method. These three aspects of thinking are in-depth layer by layer, which makes the conception of the article reach a quite high position.

(4) Positive and negative contrast structure. This paper will demonstrate the argument of the article from both positive and negative aspects, not only to explain the correctness of this argument from the following, but also to explain the harm of not doing so from the opposite side, so as to make the argument of the article invincible. For example, in Lu Xun's "Takeism", the article first demonstrates the harm of adopting "closed-door doctrine" and "giving away doctrine" instead of taking doctrine, and draws the conclusion that it is necessary to implement takenism, then explains the methods and significance of implementing takenism, and further demonstrates the importance of implementing takenism. The article is well-founded, impeccable and strongly supports the argument.
