Starting from 1996, I began to translate Kant's three criticisms from the original German, cooperating with Yang Zutao, Deng's translation and Yang's proofreading. Deng Xiaomang became the first person in China to translate Kant's German original works.

In 2006, at the academic seminar held in Wuhan, Deng Xiaomang, Ding Dong, Zhao Cheng, Cui Weiping, Fu Guoyong, Li Gongzhen, Cheng Yalin, Zhao Lin and many other scholars in the ideological and academic circles fired at China literature at that time. Deng Xiaomang believes that apart from criticizing the social and historical forms, China writers lack ultimate care and thinking and deep thinking about human nature. "I'm afraid it's because China literati are born with an essence that can't stand the temptation.".

From 2007 to 2009, Deng Xiaomang continued his criticism of Confucianism, which began in 1980s, and argued with the disciples of Guo Qiyong (then President of the National College of Wuhan University). The reference objects for criticism are some universal principles put forward by western philosophy and culture and the contemporary real life in China which has undergone great changes under the influence of western culture.

On June 3rd, 2009, he left Wuhan University for family reasons, transferred to distinguished professor, Department of Philosophy, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and established the German Philosophy Research Center.
