For the first-time contributor, the review process and review status are his most concerned issues. Knowing the process of reviewing manuscripts can not only keep abreast of the status of their own manuscripts, but also understand the information hidden behind the status, so as to be aware of it. Today, I will share with you a detailed introduction of the review process of SCI papers.
Participants in the review:
(1) Editor-in-Chief (EIC) has the final decision on the manuscript.
(2) ADM-a (possible) administrator, who helps to edit the daily work.
(3) Associate Editor (AE), who will comprehensively evaluate the article according to the opinions of the reviewers and make suggestions to the editor. The editor-in-chief will write the final decision letter according to AE's opinion.
(4) Reviewer-Reviewer, review your article and submit the review opinions to AE.
After the article is submitted (that is, after the paper is submitted):
1, waiting for management. The parade will arrange an editor-in-chief in 3-4 days.
2. Waiting for Reviewer Assignment is waiting for the specified reviewer. The editor-in-chief is selecting reviewers, waiting for the reviewers to reply whether they agree to review. Usually within a week. Look at the reaction speed of the critic.
3. Waiting for the reviewer's score is waiting for the reviewer's comment. Reviewers are usually asked to give their comments within three weeks. However, if the reviewer feels that there is not enough time, he can write to the editor-in-chief to ask for an extension of the review period. The length of time depends on whether the reviewer is free to read your article and punctual. Usually about three weeks.
4. Wait for AE allocation and wait for AE allocation. The editorial department is selecting/contacting AE. Generally 1-3 days or so.
5. Wait for AE recommendation and wait for AE recommendation. Some magazines require AE to give the results within three weeks. It is basically the last day or two of the deadline to give the results.
Waiting for EIC's decision-an exciting moment. Waiting for the editor's decision. Usually 3-4 days.
The final decision of EIC is also divided into the following situations:
1- accepted
2- Accepted after minor modification (without our re-review, there is no need to send it for review)
3- Reconsider after major modification. (If you want to submit for approval again, you need to go through the approval process 3-6)
4- Reject and submit (the paper is not accepted now, but it can be revised and submitted again. Go through the review process again 1-6)
5- Reject (there is no hope, switch to other journals as soon as possible)
Many authors don't know much about the follow-up review status of their papers after submission, and their hearts have been full of ups and downs. In fact, being familiar with the review process and status can eliminate one's anxiety and change the direction of submission in time after unexpected results appear, which is very necessary for the author.
