Its predecessor was China Institute of Political Science and Law 1953, and 1957 was closed. The comprehensive impact factor is 0.644, which is the core periodical of CSSCI Nantah.

This journal is the core journal of Statistical Source Science and Technology, CSSCI Nanda and Peking University Chinese. According to HowNet magazine, China Law has been included in the source journals of CSSCI Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (20 14-20 15) and the source journals of Peking University Chinese Core Journal (20 14).
