Controversy on connotation
How to describe arguments in argumentative writing Zuo Wenji Abstract: In argumentative writing, the materials used to prove opinions are called arguments, which must serve the arguments and maintain dialectical unity with them. However, in students' compositions, it is often found that many students don't know how to describe their arguments when they put forward their arguments, which leads to the low quality of their argumentative papers. Based on this, this paper analyzes the relationship between "matter" and "reason", expounds the reasons for some problems existing in students' writing practice, and puts forward a series of practical methods to solve the problems. It aims to provide reference and point out the direction for how to improve students' argumentative ability. As we all know, the so-called argumentative essay is an article of discussion and reasoning. Deliberation refers to commenting on things, things or phenomena, and reasoning refers to commenting on a certain theory, viewpoint or view. In other words, there must be correct and distinct viewpoints in the argument, that is, arguments. There must be sufficient and accurate materials, that is, arguments. It can be said that there is no material, or the material is insufficient, and the point of view lacks support, so the discussion seems empty and powerless; Similarly, if the materials are inaccurate or the facts are untrue, the views are not convincing. Therefore, arguments play an important role in argumentative writing. In students' writing practice, they often encounter such a situation: there are arguments and arguments, but they don't know how to organize and describe materials in language. Some students worked hard and saved effort, and in a few words, they passed. After careful reading, it is found that the arguments written cannot prove the arguments, or the links between the arguments are not very close or seriously out of touch. Some students are hundreds of words, from the cause of the case to the end of the case. After reading his article, I can't help thinking, is it argumentative or narrative? After a little analysis, I found that the relationship between arguments and arguments has been blurred, and the composition has been seriously off topic. According to statistics, 40%-50% of students' argumentative essays have the above phenomenon. It can be seen that the inability to correctly describe the argument has become a major obstacle to students' argumentative writing and a "roadblock" for students' writing. Analysis of the reasons for students' above-mentioned phenomena can be roughly divided into the following categories: First, they excessively pursue "conciseness and liveliness" and forget "carefulness and propriety". In the usual study, some students don't listen carefully and don't analyze how the arguments in the text are written. They just generally remember that the narrative in argumentative essays should be concise and lively. Therefore, when writing your own composition, I mistakenly think that as long as the number of words is small, no matter whether the argument is clearly explained or not. The reasons for the need for detailed description are not expressed, which leads to dull writing and unclear narration. Correspondingly, the relationship between arguments and arguments is not very close, and arguments naturally cannot effectively prove the arguments to be demonstrated. Second, "grasping the eyebrows and beards" mistakenly believes that the more detailed you write, the better. In the composition, some students can't tell the substantive difference between the narrative in the narrative and the narrative in the argumentative essay, and blindly pursue vivid narrative and detailed writing. He absorbed the writer's narrative in his narrative, making the argument interesting and literary. Although, let readers have an addiction to appreciate American literature. However, it violates the writing rules of argumentative writing, making the narrative of the composition not like narrative, and argumentative writing not like argumentative writing. The reason for this phenomenon is that when describing an argument, you can't figure out which places are favorable and which are unfavorable, and you don't know how to delete the details irrelevant to the argument. Naturally, I will not write high-quality argumentative papers. Third, my writing skills are not solid, and my words are not fluent, which leads to vague writing. In composition writing, there are always a small number of students who are afraid of writing, and their writing level is not high and their writing skills are not solid. Even the most basic sentences are ambiguous or have serious grammatical errors. Therefore, in the process of demonstrating the argument with arguments, I don't know how to express the argument clearly in basic language, which leads to the fuzziness of the argument and the fuzziness of its meaning, resulting in serious ambiguity. So that the composition is either upside down or contradictory. Therefore, when demonstrating arguments, there will be many mistakes, which will lead to a serious disconnect between arguments and arguments. It can be seen that it is imperative to strengthen students' ability to correctly state arguments and further clarify the relationship between arguments, that is, the relationship between matter and reason. So how to cultivate students' ability in this respect? In my opinion, from the perspective of discussing things, through concise and clear narration, readers should understand the face and context of things to be argued on, and provide arguments for arguments. Based on this, we can try from the following aspects. First, through "attention" and "reasoning". Remember, it refers to records, things, and objective facts. Explain a truth by describing and discussing the experiences and deeds of the characters in the argument. The narrative here can be summarized simply and clearly, or it can be described vividly and completely, but the details should be appropriate. For example, in the article "Sima Cuo on Cutting Shu", the author narrated the argument between Sima Cuo and Zhang Yi about whether Qin cut Shu or Korea. The article summarizes the things to be described in one sentence: "Sima Cuo and Zhang Yi are the disputes between Qin Gui and Wang Qian. Sima Cuo wanted to attack Shu, and Zhang Yi said,' It is better to attack Korea.' "Then, Sima Cuo and yi cheung.
