Professor Huang also spared no effort to actively promote the development of mountain city science in China. 199 1 initiated the establishment of the first research institution of mountain towns and regions in China-China Academy of Sciences and the Research Center of Mountain Towns and Regions of the Ministry of Construction, which received the attention and approval of China Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Construction, and served as the director of the center. Under his impetus, Yunnan and Guizhou successively set up two sub-centers, initially forming a base network for scientific research, personnel training and academic exchange in the planning and construction of mountain towns in China. Under his initiative, 1992 the first national symposium on planning and construction of mountain towns and 1997 the first international symposium on sustainable development of mountain human settlements were held in the mountain city of Chongqing, which greatly promoted the development of scientific research in mountain cities in China. In the early stage of urbanization in China, when the urban development still followed the extended expansion model, Professor Huang noticed the importance of ecological maintenance and improvement to urban development. He believes: "When human environmental values change from ecological awakening to ecological consciousness, the traditional development model can no longer adapt to the urban development where man and nature live in harmony." He comprehensively and systematically expounded the concept of eco-city in 1987, and thought: "the' ecology' of eco-city is no longer a narrow biological concept, but contains the meaning of social, economic and natural complexity, coordination and sustainable development; The "city" of eco-city is not a "city" in geographical space, but a "regional city" (that is, the urban-rural fringe). It is a compound system in which man and nature live, prosper and exist together. Modern scientific and technological means such as social engineering, system engineering, ecological engineering and environmental engineering should be adopted to solve a series of contradictions in the city and improve the self-regulation ability of human beings to the urban ecosystem. From 65438 to 0992, at the "Future Eco-city Summit Forum" held by the World Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, his research paper "Concept and Evaluation Criteria of Eco-city" won the honorary certificate of the International Architectural Society and the Science and Technology Star Award of the United Nations Information Promotion System for Invention and Creation.
He is also good at applying theoretical research results to practical exploration. He believes: "In urban planning and design, we should adopt an ecological-oriented overall planning and design method to guide the correct urbanization direction and the' ecologicalization' of the city, and realize the healthy, coordinated and sustainable development of the city." In the "Leshan City Master Plan 65438-0989", the structural form of green-heart recycling eco-city was put forward for the first time, and the planning results won the Sichuan Excellent Planning and Design Award and the Science and Technology Progress Award. In Hainan Fucheng Demonstration Residential District 1992 National Planning and Design Competition, the planning model of ecological residential district in subtropical city was conceived and won the first prize. From 1992 to 1998, in the overall planning of fuchuan county, Guangxi and Shizhu County, Chongqing, and in the detailed planning of Jiangbei Town, Chongqing and Guangzhou Science City, he used the ecological factor analysis method to determine the urban land use pattern and development pattern, which fundamentally improved the scientific planning. When Professor Huang 1959 graduated from university, it was at the initial stage of urban planning in China. After staying in school as a teacher, he participated in the establishment of chongqing jianzhu university urban planning major, and served as deputy director and director of planning teaching and research section, deputy director of architecture department and director of urban planning and design institute. He presided over and participated in the compilation of professional teaching materials, the formulation of teaching plans, the training of teachers, the formulation of academic research directions and the expansion of foreign exchanges, and worked hard for the development of urban planning specialty. 196 1 cooperated with Mr. Wu, Tongji University and Southeast University in Tsinghua University to compile the first textbook of urban and rural planning in China, which laid the foundation for the initial stage of urban planning education in China. After the "Cultural Revolution", he once again participated in the compilation of the national unified textbook "Principles of Urban Planning" and edited the first unified textbook "Introduction to Regional Planning". He is brave in pioneering and determined to reform. In view of the characteristics of urban planning, he actively advocated the educational model of combining production, learning and research, and promoted the educational reform with scientific research as the guide, teaching as the center and production as the basis. During his tenure as deputy director of the Department of Architecture, he took the lead in setting up bases and windows combining Industry-University-Research in Shenzhen and Hainan, urging students to join the forefront of reform and opening up to test their knowledge and accept new theories and ideas. 65438-0993, the discipline of urban planning led by him was approved as the first batch of key disciplines in Sichuan Province, and was awarded the right of doctoral degree. The teaching research achievement of "combining the national conditions of mountainous areas and running the characteristics of urban planning specialty" won the second prize of national excellent teaching achievement. More than 30 master's and doctoral students have been trained. 199 1 was awarded the title of excellent graduate tutor in Sichuan Province, and was employed as an adjunct professor in Tsinghua University and Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping.
Professor Huang is a model teacher. He has noble moral cultivation and scientific dedication. With the motto of "being diligent in business and learning to be in power sincerely", he has worked hard and made selfless dedication for decades, taking the prosperity and development of urban planning as his lifelong pursuit. He has successively undertaken more than 10 research projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation, Doctoral Program Fund and Ministry of Construction, and more than 10 research projects of Sino-Canadian and Sino-German cooperation, published more than 100 academic papers and compiled 6 monographs. He often warns students: "Urban planning is a social undertaking, involving the overall interests of the city and public interests. Planners must have noble moral quality and profound professionalism and be responsible for social development. " With a high sense of social responsibility and scientific and pragmatic spirit, he practiced and influenced generations of young students. Professor Huang attaches great importance to the practice of urban planning and design. He believes that "the research objects of urban planning are not only diverse and complex, but also constantly changing and developing. We should be good at summing up experience in practice, constantly expanding planning theory and design methods, scientifically predicting the future development direction of cities, and grasping the temporal and spatial changes and development process of cities in order to better serve urban construction. " He is tireless, and has traveled all over the country 12 provinces and autonomous regions for 40 years. He has presided over more than 100 regional planning, master planning, detailed planning, scenic spot planning, urban design and architectural design projects, and won many awards. He pays special attention to the construction of national key projects. Since 1960s, he has participated in the urban relocation planning of high, medium and low dams in different periods of the Three Gorges Project, and is now a member of the Three Gorges Resettlement Project Advisory Expert Group of the the State Council Three Gorges Construction Committee. He also devoted himself to the planning and construction of small towns. In the 1980s, he presided over the completion of the national "Spark Plan" pilot project-the planning and design of the comprehensive demonstration site of the market town in Guandu Mountain area, Sichuan Province. This achievement "has reached the domestic advanced level and has distinctive characteristics in the world" (appraisal opinion), which was highly appreciated at the UIA conference 16 meeting. He set an example by striving for perfection in planning and design, ensuring the high quality and creativity of the design results, and was well received by the local government and the construction unit. It is precisely because of his continuous exploration in practice that he has been able to build a high-rise building, continuously expand and deepen the breadth and depth of theoretical research, and has been at the forefront of planning academics.
