Gu Cheng was a poet who swam over during the Cultural Revolution. Just like an elk rising from a swamp, he is not fascinated by the land full of flowers, so he dares not be generous with the time and space of his life, but will seize every moment of his life and chew it carefully.
We saw: "the door is like a city, and the sun is shining." We saw: "the grass is bearing seeds/the wind is shaking the leaves/we stand silent/it's beautiful." The poet gave us a narrow scene, a short period of time, an almost still movement, and he chewed so finely and so tastefully. This poem shows an adult who has experienced ups and downs and occasionally cherishes a short and beautiful life. (Quoted from: Appreciation of Xue Qi's Door)
