The "Giant Buddha" Mountain is a purple-red brick-red sandstone of the Jiaguan Formation of the Upper Cretaceous10.2 billion years ago. At the end of the Warring States Period, Qin Shu asked Li Bing to "chisel away from the pile", and the mountain of Wuyou Mountain changed. The three mountains in the Han Dynasty were all cemeteries, and hundreds of cliff tombs were built. In the tomb of Ma Hao Cliff between Lingyun and Una, there is the earliest Cliff Buddha statue in China. Buddhism flourished in Una and Lingyun Mountain in the Tang Dynasty. Wuyou Temple and Lingyun Temple were built, and Leshan Giant Buddha was discovered. Lingbao Tower was founded in the Tang Dynasty, and has been maintained since the Song Dynasty. These related natural history and human history are wonderfully combined. As a cultural phenomenon, "Giant Buddha" was first presented to people in the 1990s. The strange landscape adds brand-new content to the famous Leshan.

"Looking horizontally, the ridge edge becomes a peak, and the distance is different." The "Giant Buddha" landscape is not everywhere, and the best place to watch the "Giant Buddha" is in the east pier of Yingchunmen in Leshan ancient city. Looking south from here, the "Giant Buddha" can be seen at a glance, whether it is spring and summer, morning and evening, clear sky in Wan Li or foggy. That huge figure, with the flowing water of the three rivers and the change of seasons, seems to be looming, blending with the historical landscape, giving tourists a kind of enjoyment of beautiful mountains and rivers and a fascinating cultural edification.
