There are usually two chances to check the duplicate in the school.

The first time is the first trial of the dissertation, before the evaluation of the dissertation. Only after the initial originality check is passed can the dissertation be reviewed.

The second time is the original check of the final draft of the paper, after the formal defense. Only after the manuscript has passed the inspection can the degree be awarded.

Shanghai Ocean University requires that the duplicate checking rate for master's dissertations should be below 20% and that for doctoral dissertations should be below 15%.
