Development of cigarette filter tip
Although cigarette filters made of crepe paper were first introduced to the European cigarette market in the 1920s, it was not until 1950s that filter cigarettes began to be widely recognized by consumers with the development of cellulose acetate. Since 1950s, filter-tip cigarettes have appeared in most markets in the world. Due to the increasing interest of consumers in low-smoke products, the market share of filter-tip cigarettes in many countries has exceeded 90% to 95%. It is well known that the smoke produced by cigarette burning contains hundreds of chemical components harmful to human body, especially more than 40 carcinogens such as tar and nitrosamines.
