Whether the summary of the meeting is well written will directly affect whether your research can be selected for the meeting. It should be pointed out that only abstracts can be included in the final collection of documents published by the conference. In addition, many researchers admit that they only look at the titles when browsing the meeting schedule. If the title looks interesting, they will browse the summary. In other words, for most readers, the most important part of a research paper is the abstract.
When writing the summary of the meeting, we should pay attention to two objectives:
First, the summary should be focused, indicating that you have something to say (such as the data you want to show). Second, the abstract should be attractive enough to attract readers to participate in your presentation.
Classical abstract writing method:
In a typical paper, the summary of the meeting consists of four basic parts, namely, the research purpose (what hypotheses you tested and what questions you tried to answer), research methods, main results and explanation analysis. In addition, the abstract can start with one or two concise background information to help readers understand the question and explain the meaning or suggestion based on the answer in one sentence.
Please refer to the following table for details:
In addition, you can also use flowcharts or mind maps to assist writing. Through this form, you can sort out the level of your thoughts or major findings, or show how to draw research conclusions from key findings in a smooth and intuitive way.
Another popular method is to determine the key sentences first, and then summarize them around them.
Specifically, it can be developed around the following seven points:
Summarize the research results with a sentence containing the verb and the word 10- 14. If you find it difficult, it may be that your research results are too diverse or your research questions are too broad.
Answer "What is the research topic" in one sentence.
Explain the key to your research.
Summarize why you think this question has not been fully answered in previous studies.
Describe how you solved this problem. If the method is complicated, just highlight the key steps.
Summarize the main findings of the study in one sentence.
Summarize the impact of this study. This is sometimes not easy in basic science, but any serious scientific researcher should try.
The writing method of atypical abstract
Sometimes, you may need to write an "atypical" summary, such as a comprehensive summary. This often requires more preparation: you need to be fully familiar with the latest and most important work in this field. In fact, it is a good opportunity to integrate my work and opinions into the research hotspots in this field.
The old drivers also gave seven suggestions:
First, express the theme of the abstract clearly and concisely, so that you can know what you want to cover. Secondly, determine what you want to express. Is it to summarize the work done by predecessors on this research topic, summarize the present situation of this research field, or suggest the possible research direction in the future? Once the content is determined, it is necessary to make a brief summary of the most advanced literature. You can use the form of notes or mind maps. If appropriate, you can add your own works to the abstract. But don't just talk about your own research, but integrate it with other research results. "Topic phrase" is the core of the introduction paragraph. Introduce the topic in a few sentences and emphasize its importance. There are no typical methods and results in the summary. What needs to be done is to organize the summarized documents into coherent and logical written words. When summarizing the results, remember to mention the author's name or research. The "information phrase" is the center of the conclusion paragraph. You can add some descriptions about the future direction and new possibilities. So much for the skill section.
Finally, meetings often have specific format requirements for submitted abstracts, and final adjustments need to be made according to these requirements.
