Some time ago, I sent two short articles, one about the overseas study plan of China students and studying in South Korea, and the other about how to choose a suitable university. Today I want to talk about why I don't recommend learning Korean.
I have been taking time to attend lectures in universities in recent days, because there is a college near our college. This college has two majors, one is Korean undergraduate major, and the other is practical Korean specialist major.
All kinds of problems about Huada are out of the scope of discussion, because they are problems within the system and we can't solve them. We just want to talk about the problems existing in Korean major from the perspective of a person who has dealt with Korean for many years.
1. expertise
Korean or Korean majors are quite common now, especially in recent years. Basically, all universities or vocational schools have related majors, such as business Korean, applied Korean and foreign trade Korean.
The college has always had these two majors, but the number of students is decreasing every year. Basically, there is only one class per session, with about 20 students in each class.
I still want to talk about the professionalism of Korean major from the perspective of Korean application. Jiaozhou city, where our institute is located, is one of the areas where Korean enterprises and Koreans are concentrated in Qingdao. Most of the students in our college and Korean friends around us are heads of foreign trade enterprises and wholly-owned Korean enterprises that export to Korea.
Every year, I directly or indirectly help these enterprises solve the problem of Korean translation. Yesterday, another company asked me for an important person. In fact, I should understand the meaning here, that is, the talents needed by enterprises are not qualified by Korean majors. Speaking Korean translation alone requires trade email exchange and communication skills, which Korean graduates lack.
Including the graduates of Korean major in our college who come to interview every year, including the students who come back from studying in Korea. From our professional point of view, it is really difficult to meet the requirements, such as improper handling of sound changes, inaccurate pronunciation, and hearing about various problems.
Moreover, Korean actually has a shelf life problem. If you don't engage in this industry, your language ability will gradually lose.
2. Systematic
At present, the content of Korean major is actually quite rich, including grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening, but it is often not very systematic. The textbooks used are also varied, and there are various Korean textbooks at home.
In addition, what I really want to say is whether there is a systematic study plan and scheme for Korean majors. We can feel this problem in class. When we can't change the teaching materials, teachers and professional settings, we can actually redefine this problem from our own perspective.
Step 3: Purpose
I don't want to talk about professional settings or names here. They are all very beautiful and comprehensive, but they are not practical. In every class, whether it is a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, there are always several students who learn well, which is of course relative to other students.
I chatted with several students, teachers and foreign teachers yesterday. The purpose of students is still relatively poor. Many people may study this major just because they like it, or because of the influence of the Korean Wave. Some may be just to solve the problem of going to college or just to take the postgraduate entrance examination in the future.
Few students really know their purpose of learning Korean. Yesterday, there were two Korean students studying abroad, and their goal was clear, that is, to work in Korea. That's good.
practical
Practicality seems to be a common problem in all majors, just like learning English from an early age and staying at the kindergarten level for many years. This is especially true in Korean. After all, we are surrounded by the heads of relevant enterprises, and their demand for such talents is very direct and realistic.
On the one hand, the demand of enterprises is urgent, and the treatment is not a problem, as long as you have this ability.
On the other hand, whether students insist on this road, our college also has such an example. When this opportunity came up, they found that they couldn't do it.
Students often ask if Korean can be accelerated, but it can reach a good level within a certain period of time, such as half a year or a year. As long as you can persist, it is natural to dare to pay.
Every day, I will answer some students' questions about learning Korean online. I don't recommend learning Korean, but I recommend them to study finance, management, trade and other majors, and then they can use their spare time to teach themselves or choose Korean. After all, Korean is still a language tool. What they need is practicality, and everything they need is indispensable.
Finally, it takes time and energy to learn Korean. If you want to eat by it, you have to work harder and persist than others. Otherwise, you have too many beginners and little mastery.
At the same time, Korean majors should not be affected. As long as you stick to this road, make more efforts and reach a high level of Korean, it is not difficult to find a good job in the enterprise.
