What are the three main stages of quality management development, and what are their characteristics?
The three stages of quality management development are:

The first stage: quality inspection stage (early 20th century to 1940s).

1. Taylor advocates that planning and implementation must be separated, and there should be inspection and supervision in the implementation process. Industrial enterprises generally set up full-time inspection institutions.

2. 1924 W.A.Shewhart of Bell Institute in the United States put forward a "6σ" method for economic control of product quality in the production process by using the principle of mathematical statistics.

3. 1929 H.F.Dodge and H.G.Romig published the paper "Selective Sampling Inspection".

The second stage: statistical quality management stage (1940s-1950s).

1. The formation of bourgeois "behavioral science" theory

2. The application of mathematical statistics in quality management.

The third stage: (60' s ~ present) Total quality management stage After World War II, many management schools appeared. But the most influential school is "Decision Theory", and its representative is American economist Simon, who applies advanced mathematics, statistics, operational research and computer technology to the study of decision-making methods.

1. With the development of science and technology and management theory, some products, especially large and complex projects, have higher and higher requirements for safety and reliability, and the concepts of product quality have appeared such requirements as "reliability", "safety" and "economy".

2. New contents such as "defect-free movement", "quality management group activity", "quality assurance" and "product responsibility" have appeared in management.

3. Dr Feigenbaum of American General Electric Company put forward the idea of TQC for the first time in 1960s, which made the quality management develop to a brand-new stage. He combined technology, administrative management and statistical methods to form a complete working system.
