Every year, a large number of academic articles from China flock to high-impact international journals. These articles are mixed, some are rejected, and some are overhauled, which can be described as wave after wave. Many of these articles have made some common faults, which directly affected the inclusion of articles. Today, I will share some common problems of these papers with you, hoping to give the authors a reference, prescribe the right medicine and get rid of the disease.
1, the introduction is not clear. The purpose of academic papers is to promote scientific research. The introduction does not clearly explain why this study is worth doing and why this study is chosen.
2. The experimental design is improper or lacks necessary statistical analysis, and the description of materials and methods is insufficient.
2. There are too few experiments to prove the argument, and the results are too thin.
4. The thesis is not novel enough, the argument is not prominent enough, and the necessary discussion is lacking.
How to avoid the above problems?
1. Please read the submission instructions of the target journal carefully before submitting. Different journals have different requirements for manuscripts. Also look at the articles recently published by this magazine.
2. The number of words in the abstract should be controlled at 150-250 words, and the abstract should include: background (1 sentence, sometimes exempted), test method (1-3 sentence), the most important result (4-6 sentences) and conclusion (1-2). It is extremely important that most readers only read your abstract, or read it before deciding whether to read your full text.
3. The introduction part should clearly explain your research background and purpose, and explain the value of the research to readers.
4. Materials and Methods: Introduce the experimental area and the materials used in the research. The detailed standard in the description of materials and methods is to allow others to repeat your experiment.
Results: Before writing, you should fully digest and concentrate your experimental data to reveal the regular trend. Focus on describing important results and use charts flexibly to avoid duplication of chart data in text description. Subtitles often contribute to the structure and readability of articles.
6 discussion: discussion can sometimes be combined with results. We should try our best to discuss the results within a framework and echo the research purpose or hypothesis put forward in the introduction. Discussions should be based on evidence, avoiding subjective assumptions or infinite guesses. Avoid repeating the description of the results. We should emphasize the new results and explain their significance. The similarities and differences between the main results and those reported by predecessors should be compared and discussed. You can also discuss the shortcomings of the test methods or results and point out the direction of further research. Finally, make a clear conclusion.
7. References: 20-40 references for general scientific research articles are appropriate. When quoting other people's arguments, you should indicate the source, but when quoting common sense, you don't need to quote references. Cite authoritative and up-to-date references as much as possible, and avoid quoting summary of meeting minutes as much as possible. References should be quoted and listed in strict accordance with the format specified in the publication. Remember to read every article cited.
8. Because the acceptance rate of most international journals is not high, you should carefully read the submission instructions and format requirements, check the language of the paper, and find a professional paper language polishing company to help ensure foolproof.
