How to automatically generate a catalog without changing the typesetting
The specific method is as follows:
First, set the chapter style.
1. Select "Chapter 1", click the "One Horizontal+Small Triangle" icon on the right side of "Style" and select "Title"; Select 1. 1, click the small triangle on the right side of the Style, find "Heading 1", and click to set 1 as the Heading 1 style; Select 1. 1. 1, click the small triangle on the right side of the style to find the title 2, and click it to set 1. 1 as the style of the title 2; Similarly, set 1. 1.2 as the heading 2 style.
2. The rest of the chapters are also set up in this way, that is, "chapter" uses "title", such as the first chapter; "Section" uses "title 1", for example,1.1; "Point" under "Section" uses heading 2, for example,1.1.
Second, set up section break.
1. After positioning the cursor to the first line break on the first page, press enter, leaving a line break, thus generating a directory; Select the Layout tab, click Delimiter, and then select Next Page in section break to insert the section break on the next page. You can see the section break by clicking the Show/Hide Edit Markup icon under the Start tab.
2. After inserting the section break, you can set the page number. Because section break is inserted, you can set the table of contents and text to page numbers starting from 1.
Third, set the page number.
1. Select the "Insert" tab, click "Page Number", and select "Page Bottom → Common Number 2" to insert the page number; Select page number 2 on the first page of the text, click the page number, select the page number format, open the page number format window, select the starting page number, and click OK to set the starting page number of the text page to 1.
2. In addition, the page number and font size can be set as required. Select the page number to open the font setting window. Click the font size drop-down list box and select a font size. If the font window does not pop up, you can right-click the page number to pop up the font window, or select Start Option Settings.
Fourth, generate a directory.
1. Double-click any blank space on the page, close the header and footer, position the cursor before the unique line break on the first page, select the "Reference" tab, click the "Table of Contents" icon, select a table of contents style, such as "Automatic Table of Contents 1", and the table of contents of the whole book will be automatically generated.
2. It should be noted that the header and footer must be closed, otherwise there will be many duplicate directories, which will consume a lot of time and computer resources. Because of the error, it takes time and wastes time to generate the directory.
Five, set the generation directory
1. Select the "Start" tab, select "Directory" and click the "Center" icon, and the word "Directory" will be "Center"; Click the table of contents area to select the table of contents, click the diagonal arrow icon on the right side of the paragraph to open the paragraph window, select the Indentation and Spacing tab, click the drop-down list box of line spacing, select a fixed value, change the setting value to 24 points, and click OK to change the line spacing of the table of contents to 24 points.
2. In addition, you can adjust the font size of chapters. Select all chapter names first, hold down the Ctrl key after selecting a chapter name, and then select other chapter names (choose the second chapter name from the left, otherwise you can't choose), as shown in Figure 6:
3. Next, click the font size drop-down list box and select a font, such as No.3, as shown in Figure 7:
4. The chapter names are still not obvious. Make them bold again, and press Ctrl+B to make all chapter names bold.
