Yiyang Normal School is a secondary normal school organized by Yiyang Municipal People's Government and headed by Yiyang Education Bureau. This school with a history of 100 years is one of the six schools in Hunan Province that have been commended and rewarded by the State Education Commission. On September 2 1 day, 2020, the meeting of the Standing Committee of Yiyang Municipal Committee decided to invest more than 13 billion yuan to build a modern local teachers' college with Yiyang Normal School as the main body and train teachers for compulsory education and preschool education. The new campus is located next to Yiyang Avenue in downtown (formerly hunan city university Chaoyang Campus), with beautiful environment and convenient transportation.

The school has signed a cooperation agreement with Hunan Preschool Teachers College, and some preschool students can choose the best five-year secondary and higher vocational school to study full-time preschool education.

Yiyang Normal University insists on strengthening the school with talents and has created a team of teachers with excellent quality, reasonable structure and a combination of full-time and part-time jobs. More than one-third of the teachers in the school have senior titles, and more than 20 teachers have been rated as national, provincial and municipal backbone teachers and famous teachers.
