Study on the epidemic law of wheat stripe rust in a large area
From 65438 to 0959, Ceng Shimai began to study the epidemic law of wheat stripe rust on a large scale. He started with a large-scale investigation of the incidence and combined with relevant meteorological data analysis. 1960 first put forward the viewpoint of large-scale epidemic and epidemic fauna of wheat stripe rust, and participated in the planning and organization of national cooperative research. Together with domestic counterparts, the epidemic characteristics and laws of wheat stripe rust in China were basically found out, which provided scientific basis for formulating the overall control strategy of the disease.
1962, Ceng Shimai published the article "Mathematical analysis of the epidemic law of wheat stripe rust in spring", which initiated the quantitative epidemiological research and kept pace with foreign research. In 1970s, systematic analysis and computer simulation methods were first introduced into epidemiological research in China, and the first domestic plant disease epidemic simulation model (TXLX, spring epidemic simulation model of wheat stripe rust, 198 1 year) was developed. In recent years, PANCRIN, a computer simulation model of wheat stripe rust epidemic and variety-race interaction, has been developed, which is the first time at home and abroad. This model was reported at the 5th International Congress of Plant Pathology and attracted attention. In addition, he and his students have successively developed simulation models of various diseases on rice, wheat and vegetables, and gradually developed from a single disease to a comprehensive model of various diseases and even pests and diseases, from temporal dynamics to spatial dynamics, and then to loss estimation, variety control effect and control decision-making model. These models are basically matched now, and compared with similar foreign models, they are unique in system structure and practicality.
Offering the course of "Epidemiology of Plant Diseases" for graduate students and undergraduates.
From 65438 to 0980, Ceng Shimai took the lead in setting up the course of "Plant Disease Epidemiology" for graduate students and undergraduates in China. 65438-0986, he cooperated with Yang Yan to compile the first monograph on the epidemiology of plant diseases in China. This book expounds the systematic view, ecological view and genetic view of plant diseases, not only introduces the international theories and methods of plant disease epidemiology in the 1980 s, but also integrates the author's achievements and viewpoints for many years. It was once rated as the first batch of excellent teaching materials by the Ministry of Agriculture (1992).
Zeng Shimai has trained 16 graduate students,1/kloc-0 doctoral students and more than 80 advanced teachers and young workers, all of which have become the backbone in this field. He contributed to the establishment of the Epidemiology Committee of the Society of Plant Pathology, participated in the organization of important national seminars on pest prediction, integrated control, ultra-long-term dynamics and prediction of pests and diseases, and played an important role in improving the theoretical and technical level of disease prediction in China.
