The establishment and development of physics discipline in Beijing Normal University is closely related to the century-old history of Beijing Normal University, which can be traced back to the physics course offered by Tangyou Teachers College of Beijing Normal University in 1904. 19 1 1 Established the Department of Mathematics and Physics, 1923 formally established the Department of Physics. 1952 the former physics department of fu jen Catholic university was merged into the physics department of Beijing normal university. Wu, Zhang, Zhang Zongsui, He, Xia Yuanli, Chu, Zheng Huachi, Yu, He Yujie, Zhang, Lu Lieyang, Zhang Fuquan, Lin Zhenjin, Huang Zuqi, Ling Yongshun, Ka Xinglin, Liu Liao, Ma Benkun, Liang Shaorong, Fang Fukang and other famous physicists and educators. The rapid development of physics in the 20th century prompted the physics department to derive a large number of new disciplines in its own development process, which promoted the astronomy department (1960), the institute of low-energy nuclear physics (1979), the radio department (1980), the analysis and testing center (1980), and so on. The Department of Physics of Beijing Normal University is one of the earliest units in China with doctorates in condensed matter physics and theoretical physics.
After the Cultural Revolution, everything was lost. Beijing Normal University sent a group of outstanding young and middle-aged physics backbones to study in Europe and America. They returned to Beijing Normal University in the early 1980s and became the backbone of physics teaching and scientific research in Beijing Normal University. 1980, Academician Huang Zuqia came to work in Beijing Normal University. Under the leadership of Mr. Huang, combined with Ma Benkun, Liu Liao, Fang Fukang, Liang Canbin, Yang Zhanru, Qi Anshen, Hu Gang, Ding Ejiang and other outstanding young and middle-aged experts at that time, the physics discipline of Beijing Normal University has formed a highly competitive physics teaching and research team. They directly promoted the development of the discipline, obtained a number of internationally influential scientific research achievements in different directions of physics, and established the academic status of Beijing Normal University in statistical physics, nonlinear science, condensed matter physics, system science, relativity, astrophysics, nuclear physics and other disciplines at home and abroad. They have also trained a number of excellent masters and doctors. After several years of growth, most of these students have grown into academic leaders and academic backbones in related fields at home and abroad.
At present, physics has the right to award the first-class doctor's degree in physics, and there are post-doctoral mobile stations in physics, including four doctoral programs in theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optics, particle physics and nuclear physics, as well as doctoral programs in physical education and pedagogy. Among the two disciplines, the theoretical physics discipline has the post of Changjiang distinguished professor. In 2002, it was rated as the first batch of national key disciplines of theoretical physics, and successfully passed the mid-term evaluation in 2007. Condensed matter physics was awarded as a key discipline in Beijing in 2002. Physics also includes "Key Laboratory of Ray Beam Technology and Material Modification of Ministry of Education" and "Beijing Key Laboratory of Applied Optics". The physics discipline of Beijing Normal University became 1996 national basic scientific research and teaching talent training base. The physics experiment teaching center was awarded the title of "Beijing Experimental Demonstration Center" with excellent results in 2007, and the physics education major was awarded the first batch of national second-class majors in 2007. During the Tenth Five-Year Plan and the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, physics was included in the 2 1 1 project and the 985 project.
At present, there are two academicians of China Academy of Sciences (including double-hired academician 1 name) and China Academy of Engineering 1 name (double-hired). The Department of Physics has 8 1 faculty, including 26 teachers (23 doctoral supervisors), 30 associate professors and 4 lecturers. There are 8 senior engineers, 3 intermediate engineers and 2 junior engineers in the experimental engineering series. Among the teachers, there are 1 person, a member of the discipline evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, 3 young and middle-aged experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country, 4 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, 5 teachers selected for the cross-century and new century outstanding talents training program of the Ministry of Education, 4 winners of the national top 100 doctoral dissertations. The age structure and academic qualifications of teachers tend to be reasonable in recent years, and all the teaching and research personnel under 55 have doctoral degrees except one. Since 2000, physics has completed more than 0/00 national scientific research projects, including 973 national key basic research projects, 863 national natural science foundation key projects, outstanding youth fund projects, general projects, doctoral programs fund of the Ministry of Education and a number of scientific research projects. In recent years, the physics research team has achieved fruitful research results. Since the 1990s, more than 30 papers have been published in phys.rev.lett, the top journal of physics, and more than 200 series of papers of phys.rev.have been cited by SCI for more than 4,000 times, which reflects the enhancement of academic competitiveness of the discipline team and the expansion of academic influence among peers at home and abroad. The research results won a third prize of the National Natural Science Award, a first prize of the Ministry of Education for scientific and technological progress 1 item, and a number of second prizes of the Ministry of Education for scientific and technological progress. The two subjects of theoretical physics in Beijing Normal University were rated as the highest grade A++ by the Graduate Evaluation of China published by the Scientific Research Institute of China Academy of Management Sciences in 2006.
A group of young and promising doctors are playing a main role in scientific research and teaching, and gradually become new academic leaders. Young academic leaders have presided over most scientific research projects and become the backbone of the discipline team in completing meaningful research breakthroughs and publishing excellent research results in high-level journals. At the same time, senior academicians and scholars continue to play a key role in discipline construction and the cultivation and improvement of young academic backbones, forming a good trend of combining the old with the young and young, and young academic leaders constantly emerging and growing. Physics discipline takes the construction of two disciplines as the main line. In 2002, a group of young and middle-aged academic leaders built a condensed physics school-level innovation group, and in 2007, they began to build statistical physics and nonlinear science innovation groups. In recent years, the Department of Physics has attached great importance to the construction of experimental disciplines, and successively built three school-level key laboratories: Beijing Key Laboratory of Applied Optics, Computational and Simulated Physics Laboratory, Condensed Matter Physics, Functional Nanomaterials Film and Device Physics, and Beijing Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center.
The Physics Department of Beijing Normal University has trained more than 10,000 outstanding graduates of various types for the country. Graduates have a broad and solid foundation, rigorous style of study, simple style, strong adaptability and great development potential, which are well received by employers. In recent ten years, the undergraduate education of the Department of Physics has trained a group of physics professionals, and five graduates (including four undergraduate graduates) have won the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award. The Department of Physics attaches great importance to teaching reform and teaching research, and has made remarkable achievements. In 2005, it won the first prize and the second prize of national teaching achievement, and one course was rated as a national excellent course. In the same year, he won 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes of Beijing Teaching Achievement Award.
The Physics Department of Beijing Normal University is built and developed on the basis of the whole school's physics discipline, which has the advantages of complete disciplines and strong comprehensiveness. We have high requirements for self-construction. In accordance with the Party's educational policy and the general plan of rejuvenating the country through science and education, we aim at cultivating talents with high scientific and cultural quality, good moral outlook, solid and extensive theoretical foundation of physics, strong experimental ability and innovative consciousness, and rigorous style of study. We persist in educational innovation and work hard to make the Department of Physics a base for cultivating outstanding reserve talents and high-quality research-oriented teachers in national physics and related basic science research.
