Brief introduction of Fu Xinian
Fu Xinian, a famous architectural historian and expert in cultural relics appraisal, is a private disciple of Mr. Qi Gong. Born in Jiang 'an County, Sichuan Province,/kloc-0 was born in Beijing in June, 1933. 1955 graduated from the Department of Architecture of Tsinghua University. He is currently an academician of China Academy of Engineering, a member of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Construction, a researcher at the Institute of Architectural History of China Institute of Building Science and Technology, a member of the National Planning Group for the Arrangement and Publication of Ancient Books, a member of the National Cultural Relics Appraisal Committee, a director of the Archaeological Society of China, and a professor at the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University.

In 1950s and 1960s, he was the assistant of Professor Liang Sicheng and Professor Liu Dunzhen, helping them to study the modern architectural history of China. In the future, we will focus on the planning and design ideas, techniques and design rules of single buildings, palaces, temples and other large buildings in ancient cities of China, and initially reveal a series of design methods for controlling the planning scale and building proportion by basic modulus and expanded modulus in ancient cities of China. Large buildings take the main courtyard as the modulus, while single buildings take the column height as the modulus. At the same time, it is found that the planning of large buildings such as palaces, temples and temples is controlled by standard grids, and the main body is placed in the geometric center. In order to make up for the shortage of Chinese historical materials, we also studied Japanese architecture before the 9th century, and found out the law of using modulus in architectural design in Sui and Tang Dynasties. These studies have proved that since the Northern and Southern Dynasties at the latest, there has been a continuously developed and perfect system for planning and architectural design using modulus, which has been in use for more than 1000 years and was highly scientific and practical at that time. In addition, a series of buildings such as the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Warring States, the Tang Dynasty, the Song Dynasty, the Jin Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty were restored by using the mastered modulus method, so as to achieve the purpose of scientifically excavating important ancient buildings that no longer exist and supplementing the blank of historical materials. He published nearly 30 papers, which were included in "Essays on Architectural History of Fu Xinian". The five-volume History of Ancient Architecture in China, the second volume History of Architecture in the Three Kingdoms, the Jin Dynasty, the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the Study of Ancient Urban Planning, Building Group Layout and Architectural Design Methods in China have been written and published.
