In September, 2004, I offered the course "History of Psychology" to the 02-level basic psychology major in the National Science Base of our department. It is customary for students to hand in "course papers" at the end of the course. When I saw the course papers handed in by students, some of them were very wonderful, which surprised me! Then, an idea that I had never had suddenly flashed through my mind: why not let these things be published publicly and shared by more readers? Besides, it's a pity that all such good things are "pressed" in my filing cabinet!
That's how it happened. When I happened to have this idea, editor Yu Ping, who was still working in Guangxi Normal University Press, came to me and asked me if I was interested in editing some popular psychology books. It can be said that the weather is beautiful, and the publication is so hit it off!
I immediately set out to draw up a writing outline and writing norms, and set up the editorial board of The Story of Western Psychologists, which was composed of students. I hired Sui and He Wei as assistant editors, and Zou,, as editorial director. On the basis of selecting well-written existing course papers, add some words. Ask the students to revise or write from scratch. The students devoted themselves to this work with great enthusiasm during the winter vacation. At the beginning of the new semester, the first draft is basically formed.
As the editor-in-chief, when I revise these manuscripts, even if some are immature and some are rough, I will feel a burst of excitement from time to time: what a lovely student! They not only well understood and embodied my writing intention, but also their spirit of exploration that newborn calves are not afraid of tigers, their love for their future psychological career, and their reverence for the masters of psychology in history and today, all of which made me a psychology teacher unable to believe that the future of psychology in China belongs to them! The future psychologists in China will be born from them!
Even I am surprised. I have never spent so much time and energy on undergraduate manuscripts since I taught for more than 20 years. Out of concern for students and a sense of responsibility for popularizing psychological knowledge, although I work a little harder, I am happy!
I want to say that my students have made great contributions to China's psychological career, especially the popularization of psychological thoughts. Our society needs such reading materials too much. In my opinion, domestic psychology books often have two extremes: either they are too professional and make ordinary readers afraid; Either it is too vulgar, and something like "chicken soup for the soul" can't meet the needs of psychology lovers at all. Our book just makes up for these two shortcomings (please see the preface of the editor-in-chief).
Of course, the writing of this book is only a preliminary attempt, and it is inevitable that there will be such shortcomings and deficiencies. The contents of the book are responsible for themselves, reflecting the research results of the authors, and do not represent the views of the editor-in-chief. In the process of writing, the author refers to the relevant domestic research results. Considering that this is a best seller, they didn't list all the references. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the authors of relevant achievements! Expect readers to criticize and correct me. I also hope that readers will care for our delicate little flower warmly and let her thrive in the test of wind and rain.
Miss Du Guiling, the editor-in-chief, devoted great enthusiasm and efforts to this book. From the creativity and conception of the whole book, to the narrative way of each article, the search of information, and even the choice of words and sentences, she has put forward very constructive opinions. I am moved and admired by his serious and responsible working attitude.
Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Ms. Ping Yu who directly contributed to this book! I would like to pay high tribute to Mr. Zheng Naxin, deputy editor-in-chief of the publishing house who accepted the publication of this book with pleasure!
I also want to thank all the members of the editorial board of Master! Their excellent work ensured that the book was finished on time. This book is dedicated to the students of Grade 02 in Sinology Base of Psychology Department of East China Normal University and all the students in other grades!
