Yao, a native of Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, was born in May 1946 and graduated from Jiangnan University with a major in plastic arts and design. He is currently the director of Jewelry Teaching and Research Section of Jianghai Vocational and Technical College, a researcher-level senior arts and crafts artist, a national jewelry professional appraiser, a senior member of China Arts and Crafts Society and a member of the National Gemstone Association. Long-term engaged in the production, management, artistic guidance and theoretical research of arts and crafts and jewelry. He published two academic monographs and dozens of academic papers on jade culture, and obtained three national patents.
