As a leader of the discipline, he has achieved remarkable research results in the field of injury prevention research in this discipline, founded the first injury prevention research center in China, and took the lead in carrying out injury monitoring in hospital emergency rooms in China (it has been implemented for more than 8 years). The research results of injury monitoring have been popularized and applied nationwide, which has played a role of demonstration and driving, and has had a great impact at home and abroad. Since 2000, he has presided over the national continuing education project "Research Progress and Research Methods of Injury Epidemiology" and taught, and trained thousands of professional and technical personnel above the intermediate level. As a member of the Standing Committee of the Injury Prevention and Control Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, he actively organized or participated in the work of the Society, presided over the first meeting of the Standing Committee of the Injury Prevention and Control Branch (May 2006) and the first national academic conference on injury prevention and control (199965438+February), and drafted and published the first guiding document after the establishment of the Society: Baseline Investigation Plan for Injury Intervention Projects in Safe Communities (popular in China).

The current research directions include injury prevention, environmental pollution and health, occupational safety and so on. As the project leader, he has been supported by 2 general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, 1 major projects (sub-projects), key research projects of the 11th Five-Year Plan, research projects of Li Ka-shing Foundation of Oxford University, cooperative projects of George International Research Center of Sydney University, key research projects of the 10th Five-Year Plan of Guangdong Province, etc. More than 60 scientific papers have been published, including 3 papers included in SCI, 2 monographs published by People's Health Publishing House, textbook 1 book compiled by People's Health Publishing House, and textbook 1 book edited by People's Health Publishing House. Won 3 provincial science and technology achievement awards and 5 municipal science and technology achievement awards; At the same time, as the leader of the sub-project "2 1 1 project", he has played a great role in the discipline construction and development. The project successfully passed the acceptance of experts and competent departments, and was highly praised by experts.

In terms of teaching research and personnel training, he presided over two scientific research projects on teaching reform, completed the teaching reform project of higher education in the new century by the Ministry of Education/KLOC-0 as the sub-project leader, and won the second prize of Guangdong Province 1 Teaching Achievements. Instructed many young teachers, including postdoctoral students 1 person, graduate students 12, and 6 graduate students. As a tutor, he won three "Challenge Cup" awards for Guangdong university students' scientific research works.
