Buddhism is a kind of religion and philosophy, which contains various traditions, beliefs and practices. It is mainly based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama and is usually called the Buddha. From the 6th century BC to the 4th century BC, the Buddha lived and taught in the northeast of the Indian subcontinent. He was regarded as an awakened teacher by his followers, and shared his views to help all beings end their suffering, achieve nirvana and get rid of the cycle of pain and rebirth.
