Students in this major mainly study the basic theories, knowledge and methods of information science and computing science, lay a solid mathematical foundation, receive solid computer training, and initially have the ability to engage in scientific research, solve practical problems and design and develop related software in the fields of information science and computing science.
The major of Information and Computational Science was originally named "Computational Mathematics", 1987 was renamed "Computational Mathematics and Its Application Software", and the Ministry of Education 1998 was renamed "Information and Computational Science". It is a computer science and technology major with the background of information field, combining mathematics with information and computer management. The students trained in this major have a good mathematical foundation, can skillfully use computers, and initially have the ability to engage in scientific research, solve practical problems and design and develop computer software related to a certain direction in the field of information and computer science.
The curriculum system and knowledge structure of this major embody the professional basic theories of information science and computer science on a solid mathematical basis. Through the education of basic knowledge of information theory, scientific computing and operational research, as well as the training of establishing mathematical models, mathematical practice courses and professional practice, we will focus on cultivating students' ability to solve practical problems such as scientific computing, software development and design, information processing and coding, and cultivate senior professionals who are competent in information processing, scientific and engineering computing departments.
Graduates should have the following knowledge and abilities:
1. Have a solid mathematical foundation and master the basic theories and knowledge of information science and/or computer science.
2. Skillful use of computers (including common languages, tools and some special software), with basic algorithm analysis, design ability and strong programming ability.
3, understand a certain application field, can use the theory, methods and skills to solve some practical problems in scientific research or production.
4. Understand the new development of theory, technology and application of information science and computing science.
5. Master the basic methods of literature retrieval and data query, and have certain scientific research and software development capabilities.
