Core concept report
ABC cognitive theory model: A is the trigger event, B is the belief, and C is the result.
What we do in the face of external stimuli depends on our beliefs and the way we interpret it. Emotions and behaviors will appear after we interpret them through cognition.
It's a bit like playing billiards and poking the ball with a bang. Cognition, emotion and behavior are the edges of billiards, and the ball collides back and forth in it, just as it keeps stirring in our bodies.
Therefore, our belief and interpretation of one thing is very important.
Conversely, emotions and behaviors will also affect our cognition. This can be said to be a mind hacker.
Personal experience
Seeing this model, a small video suddenly appeared in front of my eyes. I don't remember when I saw it
A baby who can just walk, let's call him H for the time being. H, wearing a small suit and carrying a briefcase, staggered to the office building. Just sitting in his workstation, another boss-like baby came over and pointed at him for a long time. It seems that he is going to fire him. H bowed his head and the title appeared on his head: at least I can go home.
Walking out of the office building with a packed carton, he reached for a taxi. A car roared by, and H was startled. The file box in his hand flew away and the files were scattered all over the floor. As soon as H bowed his head, the letter appeared again: at least I'm fine. H was happy again and stopped picking up the file. Go home happily by car.
When I got to the door, I felt the key, but I didn't bring it. The subtitle appeared again. "At least I can wait in the yard." H sat on the swing in the yard and began to sing. The faucet watering the flowers in the yard suddenly began to spray water, splashing H all over. H still smiles happily.
This short video was super fun for doll H at that time. Now think about it, isn't this a good interpretation of ABC theoretical model?
The stimulus gave us. What kind of emotions we have and how to act depend on our cognition.
At the same time, cognition, action and emotion are intertwined and inseparable.
guide to action
Take good care of your negative emotions. When you take good care of your emotions, your emotions will be better than half. This is the advanced usage of ABC cognitive theory.
