Yang Zhenning's father, Yang Wuzhi, is the first doctor of number theory in China, and he is deeply influenced by his family. Yang Wuzhi was born in Hefei, Anhui on1April 1996 1896. My parents died early and was taken care of by my uncle Yang Bangrui. He walked all the way to the provincial middle school and Beijing Normal University. After graduation, he returned to his hometown school as a teacher and trainer.
Later, Yang Wuzhi was deeply powerless to the environment at that time and decided to go abroad to study science and technology to change his country. 1928 completed his doctoral thesis and published "Various Generalizations of Hualin Problem". He became a Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Chicago and the first Ph.D. in number theory in China. After returning to China, Yang Wuzhi taught in Tsinghua University and National Southwest Associated University.
1973, Fudan University, where Yang Wuzhi taught in his later years, died. When Yang Zhenning recalled his father, he said that his father was still worried about his nationality before he died. In 20 17, 95-year-old Yang Zhenning resumed her nationality in China. It can be said that Yang Zhenning was deeply influenced by his father Yang Wuzhi all his life, from his mathematics study to China's poems and his feelings for home and country.
Nobel Prize Team 1945, Yang Zhenning went to Chicago to study for a doctorate. The study career in Chicago can be said to make Yang Zhenning complete the transformation from an apprentice to an independent scholar. Yang Zhenning, who just came to America, found that he was not suitable for his original research direction. He was all thumbs in the laboratory and even made fun of by his classmates. Where there is the crack of broken instruments, Yang Zhenning is there.
Fortunately, the learning atmosphere at that time was very good, and both teachers and classmates supported Yang Zhenning to change his research direction and study his best theoretical direction. Shortly after "changing careers", Yang Zhenning met Li Zhengdao, the most compatible partner who was several years younger than him. The intense scenes when they discussed physical problems and the harmonious figure of walking together in the forest once became the scenery on campus.
Soon, 1957, the law of the non-conservation of the universe was awarded the Nobel Prize. In fact, this research achievement has already begun to take shape in the early stage of their cooperation, but the industry did not recognize and pay attention to their achievements at that time. It was not until their research was repeatedly verified by Wu Jianxiong, a Chinese female scientist living in the United States at that time that the core framework of theoretical physics ushered in revolutionary changes.
Yang Zhenning won the Nobel Prize at the age of 35. Since then, he has maintained his love for life, kindness to others and tireless academic pursuit. In addition to discovering the law of the non-conservation of the universe with Li Zhengdao, Yang Zhenning has other breakthrough achievements in physical research, such as Yang-Mills gauge field theory and Yang-Baxter equation.
After Yang Zhenning achieved great success in scientific research, he did not relax his efforts in teaching. /kloc-at the age of 0/00, he has actually been teaching in Tsinghua University for nearly 20 years, and he is also the first senior teacher to take the lead in teaching undergraduates. In the process of teaching, Yang Zhenning can always give students the most appropriate advice.
He once emphasized the importance of research direction to students in combination with his own learning experience. He said that if the research direction is wrong, it will lead to the end of the road. Once you find the right direction and interest, you will suddenly be enlightened. People who are familiar with Yang Zhenning also know that he is a person who is full of interest in life and loves China culture.
It seems that Yang Zhenning can always find a balance between the west and the east in his scientific research and life, whether it is the poems he picked up in his daily travels or the words of others he quoted in his daily articles. When he went abroad for his motherland, he chose to stay in America. No matter in China or the United States, he has made great contributions to the education, teaching, physics research and youth training in both countries.
The times have influenced Yang Zhenning's life spanning a century and countless historical events, and he had an intersection with celebrities. One of the most talked about is the friendship between Yang Zhenning and Mr. Deng Jiaxian. From the story that Mr. Yang Zhenning asked whether China's atomic bomb was entirely his own creation in the last century to Mr. Yang Zhenning's speech on his centenary birthday. Two great scientists have made their own contributions to the strength of the motherland in their own ways.
"Don't forget to be dear forever at every meal, and be grateful to the country when you are alive." This is a message from Yang Zhenning's father after he won the Nobel Prize in 1957. Half a century has passed, and I think this old man in Tsinghua campus must be worthy of his father's teaching when he thinks of his parents, his lifelong friendship and the changes of the times.
Yang Zhenning is not only the Nobel Prize winner, but also the only Chinese winner of the Turing Prize. Besides those famous awards, he has made unremitting efforts to train young scholars in China. He has raised huge scientific research funds for Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Nankai University, and built dozens of laboratories. He personally donated more than 6 million US dollars, published dozens of international papers in the name of Tsinghua University, and successfully recommended thousands of young scholars to participate in international training.
