Salt is a necessity, but there is no salt in western Hubei. Eating salt depends entirely on salt dealers trafficking from other places. This song vividly depicts the relationship and different situations between the rich man, the salt dealer and the back foot who transports salt into the mountain, and it is conceivable that the reality of ordinary people's life is "fighting for rice and salt".
