Why can't a paper be called a literary work?
In fact, this can be said for any type of art works. In poetry, words are not consumed by poets. In poetry, novels and so on, words really become words. In our usual speech, as long as it is not artistic, words are just tools for us to exchange information and ideas, and symbols of ideas. We convey our thoughts to others through language, or convey a message to others. When the communication is completed, the words themselves are thrown away. After reading a paper, it is not words that shine there, but a series of ideas, concepts and propositions remain in the reader's mind. Therefore, this paper cannot be called a "literary work".
