The ancients said, "Be cautious before you know the ceremony." Our times are progressing in all aspects, but people are lamenting that the world is getting worse and people are not old. Did you notice a murder in broad daylight? What is shocking is not only the madness of criminals, but also the indifference, ruthlessness and cowardice of the people. The constant exposure of official corruption also makes people believe that those corrupt officials are not qualified cadres at all, or even people. Some intellectuals engage in academic corruption, while others openly plagiarize and practise fraud. Wait, wait.

According to China's traditional thought, people's conscience is innate and coexists with heaven and earth. Therefore, China people will say "conscience of heaven and earth" when swearing. With the conscience of heaven and earth, people become real people and just people at the same time.

Then we can't help asking, where is the conscience of contemporary China people? If a person's conscience is born, it will never disappear. The loudest voice calling for people's conscience is the wisdom of an era, which enables people to know and discover their own conscience. Do we still have such wisdom? This is a question worthy of deep thought by contemporary people. First of all, traditional ideas are declining. Since the May 4th Movement, China's tradition has been opposed at home and abroad. The Cultural Revolution gave it a fatal blow. Reform and opening up attach importance to economic construction and neglect cultural construction. This series of historical processes destroyed China's traditional "conscience of heaven and earth", so that people would ask "How much is conscience worth?" ? Secondly, the revolutionary spirit was completely forgotten. As a pursuit of human liberation and a belief in a better cause, the revolutionary ideal inspires generations to shed blood and sacrifice to build a new China. But this spirit of sacrificing oneself for mankind is now mostly laughed at and abandoned. People think more about how to seek the best interests of individuals, even at the expense of the interests of the country and the people. Finally, the foundation of western civilization is missing locally. Although western technology, culture and even lifestyle have been introduced to China, the core of western values has not been understood and accepted in China. People's understanding of American Hollywood blockbusters has surpassed the idea of "human love" in medieval Christianity and the concept of "human dignity" in modern enlightenment. Even in the westernization of some groups in China, the "West" is not a good "West" but a bad "West".

All these situations have covered up the conscience of contemporary people more deeply. So a fundamental task of thinking now is to reawaken people's conscience.
