Open a word document, taking word20 19 as an example.

Click the reference at the top of the document and find the table of contents in the reference menu. At this point, we can choose the formatted directory. Of course, we can also click the insert directory command below, and we choose to insert the directory.

Here we can make a variety of settings, such as "whether to display the page number", "set the correct page number", and set the directory format and display level. The arrow in the figure shows the setting method.

If you have more requirements, you can find them in the options.

In the upper right corner is a preview of the directory format. The most important dotted line in the tab leader is selected. You can also delete it if you think it is inappropriate after selecting it.

Click "Reference" to find the table of contents. Select the insert directory and make the required settings. Select the dotted line in the tab stop leader.
