How to Improve College Students' Legal Literacy
College students should not only have good scientific and cultural quality, ideological and moral quality, but also have good legal quality, which is the inevitable requirement of China's socialist modernization. However, in reality, college students' legal consciousness is not optimistic and there are many problems. Many students don't know or only know a little about the relevant legal knowledge.

1. College students lack legal knowledge. Legal knowledge is the basis of cultivating legal quality. Mastering legal knowledge is an important task of college legal basic courses, but in reality, most college students are interested in applying practical legal knowledge, have no interest in legal theoretical knowledge, and know little about criminal law, civil law and other legal knowledge closely related to life. An important indicator of legal awareness is safeguarding rights. The lack of legal knowledge has caused college students to have a weak awareness of safeguarding rights, and they will not use legal weapons correctly to safeguard their legal rights, leading to misuse of the law or letting others infringe on their legal rights. The "sneak shot incident" of Shanghai Normal University sounded the alarm for us. In just a few days, hundreds of websites reprinted the "pornographic photos" uploaded by Xiao Yao of Shanghai Normal University, with more than 500,000 pages. Many overseas websites even posted relevant information and comments, questioning the legal quality of China college students. When the reporter interviewed photographer Xiao Yao, Xiao Yao seemed to be "wronged" and argued: "What I shot was actually a scene that everyone could see. Boys watch it on the balcony every day. I just want to share it with more people online. " Xiao Yao's idea just reflects the lack of legal awareness of college students. Lack of legal knowledge, playful when young, curious about candid camera, but unaware of the violation of the privacy and portrait rights of the parties stipulated in the civil law. Xiao Yao was finally sentenced to administrative detention 10 days. This kind of thing happened in a university in Shanghai before. Several students secretly filmed an intimate video of a couple in the opposite building and uploaded it to the Internet. As a result, the girl who was filmed committed suicide by jumping off a building, and the photographer was also expelled from school. It can be seen that the lack of college students' legal knowledge has led to serious social consequences, harming others and ruining their bright future.

2. College students lack faith in law. With the popularization of basic legal courses, college students' knowledge and understanding of legal knowledge have made great progress in general, and they can generally master the most basic legal knowledge. However, due to the lack of guidance on the correct application of law, their application of legal knowledge is not comprehensive, and they even know nothing about some legal knowledge and fields. The application of the law is not standardized, and even the phenomenon of knowing the law and breaking the law appears. These phenomena are mainly due to the lack of legal belief of college students. Due to the excessive hype of the media and the deliberate negative guidance of social phenomena, people, including college students, have doubts about the authority of the law, which leads to college students' rejection of the law, feeling that the law is useless, or only paying attention to the rights stipulated by the law and ignoring the obligations stipulated by the law, without a correct view of rights and obligations.

3. College students lack the ability to defend their rights. At present, when many college students encounter problems that need to be solved through legal channels, it is difficult to use the legal knowledge they have learned to solve legal problems in real life. The main reason is not only the students' own factors, but also the school should bear certain responsibilities for this. In some schools, most of the "ideological and political courses" emphasize the ideological and moral cultivation of college students, ignoring the basic knowledge of law and only interspersed some knowledge in the classroom. This knowledge is basically conceptual and abstract principles, lacking practical content. In addition, due to the limitation of professional background, some teachers of "Ideological and Political Course" lack legal knowledge, have limited understanding of relevant legal knowledge, and have not conducted in-depth legal theory research, which restricts the cultivation of college students' legal awareness and the improvement of their rights protection ability to varying degrees. Once a problem needs to be solved through legal channels in real life, it is difficult for students to use their legal knowledge to solve the legal problems in reality, so as to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.
