1) Low welding cost company? Gas is a by-product of brewery and chemical plant, which is widely available and cheap, and its comprehensive cost is about 1/2 of manual arc welding.

(2) High production efficiency? Gas shielded welding uses a larger current density (about 200A/mm2), which is much higher than that of manual arc welding (about 10-20A/mm2), so the penetration depth is 2.2-3.8 times higher than that of manual arc welding. For steel plates and thick plates below 10mm, the groove can be reduced, the blunt edge can be increased, and the welding wire can melt quickly.

(3) Small deformation after welding. CO2 gas shielded arc welding has concentrated heat, small heating area, and CO2 gas flow has cooling effect, so the deformation of weldments after welding is small, especially for thin plate welding.

(4) Strong rust resistance Compared with submerged arc welding, CO2 gas protection has higher rust resistance, so the requirements for cleaning the surface of butt welding parts before welding are not high, which can save a lot of auxiliary time in production. Disadvantages: CO2 gas itself has strong oxidation, so it will cause alloy elements to burn, produce pores, and cause strong splash, especially splash. Although some measures have been taken from welding power source, welding wire material and welding technology, they have not been completely eliminated so far, which is an obvious disadvantage of CO2 welding.
