Where is agriculture distributed in Gansu, and where does irrigation water come from?
The whole territory of Gansu is agriculture, and the planting industry occupies a prominent position in Gansu agriculture, mainly planting wheat, corn, potato, millet, flax, rape, beet, cotton, hemp, tobacco, angelica, codonopsis pilosula and so on. In addition, there are all kinds of vegetables and fruits. Animal husbandry is an agricultural economic sector second only to planting, with a complete variety of livestock and poultry. Large livestock include horses, cows, donkeys, mules and camels, while small livestock include pigs, sheep, chickens and rabbits, and there are 28 excellent livestock and poultry varieties. But in terms of area, planting agriculture is mainly distributed in the southeast, and animal husbandry is the main thing in the northwest, which is caused by historical reasons. Due to the long sunshine time in Gansu, the whole province is a crop once a year. Wheat is the main food crop, but rice is also planted in some areas of Longnan City. Irrigation water source is the biggest problem facing Gansu agriculture. Gansu is one of the driest provinces in China, which is generally short of water. The area where the Yellow River flows in central Gansu is irrigated with Yellow River water, but it is also facing the problem of water shortage in recent years. Agricultural water shortage is not obvious in the western region dominated by animal husbandry, but it is prominent in the eastern region dominated by planting, especially in Huining and Huanxian, which is one of the driest counties in China. At present, Gansu has promoted rainwater collection projects and drip irrigation projects throughout the country, that is, building puddles and storing them. Mother's water cellar project, which was promoted by the All-China Women's Federation and other institutions to solve the problem of domestic water consumption in arid areas, was developed on the basis of rainwater collection project. I'm not a major in agriculture, and I haven't found many introductions about agriculture in Gansu from the Internet, so I can only introduce them to you with my own experience in writing papers on agriculture, countryside and farmers and some recent materials. Please forgive me if I can't!
