Multi-submission and repeated publication of one manuscript is a very common phenomenon in academic circles, and it is also one of the common problems in the style of study. So what do you mean by multiple submissions and repeated publication? Let's take a look!

First of all, the definition of multiple contributions for one manuscript.

Multi-contribution for one manuscript means that the same author tries or has published papers with the same or similar contents in two or more journals at the same time or after learning that his works will be published or published, without the knowledge of the journal editors and reviewers, within the legal or agreed time limit for no further submission, or beyond the time limit.

Repeated publication refers to the fact that when the author submits a manuscript in different publications, there are quite a lot of repeated parts (such as assumptions, methods, samples, data, charts, arguments and conclusions), and there is not enough cross-reference or index images between the manuscripts.

Simply put, it refers to the act of publishing one's own work again with or without modification.

Whether in the same language or in different languages, the same or slightly modified manuscripts are submitted to different journals respectively, which belongs to multiple submissions for one manuscript; If it is published by multiple publications, it is repeated publication.

Except for meeting minutes, disease diagnosis standards and prevention guidelines, documents reached by relevant organizations and news reports, it is best to explain to the editorial department of relevant journals if you want to contribute repeatedly.

Second, the form of multiple submissions.

1) exactly the same type of submission.

2) Dismember and submit. For example, divide article A into article B and article C, and then submit articles A, B and C to different journals.

3) Submit the transformation plan. Just changed the title, structure and content of the article.

4) Consolidated submission. In addition to changing the title of the article, the relationship between paragraphs has been adjusted, but the overall content has not changed.

5) Language variant submission. For example, translating papers published in Chinese into English or other foreign languages.

Third, the definition of multi-contribution behavior for one manuscript.

Multi-contribution behavior must meet four conditions:

1) same author.

2) The same paper or other versions of the same paper.

3) Deliberately contribute to two or more academic journals at the same time, or contribute to other journals at different times knowing that the paper has been hired or published by one journal.

4) In the case of unknown editing.

Fourth, the following types of repeated publication do not belong to the behavior of "multiple contributions for one manuscript" and can be published again:

(1) An oral report made at a professional academic conference or a complete report of preliminary research results published in the form of abstract and conference wall newspaper may be published again, but the full text published in the form of officially published conference proceedings or similar publications is not included.

(2) Publish an abstract or preliminary report in one periodical, and put the full text into the manuscript of another periodical.

(3) News reports related to academic conferences or scientific viewpoints. It can be published again, but this manuscript should not be too detailed, and more information or pictures should be attached.

(4) Minutes of important meetings, with knowledge documents reached by American institutions. It can be published again, but it should be explained to the editorial department.

(5) Academic papers with 50% or more data-rich contents published for the first time may be published again. However, it is necessary to quote the last published paper and explain it to the editorial department of the journal.

(6) The paper is published again in the international edition of the same journal in different or the same language.

(7) The paper is a research paper of great discovery that has been published in domestic journals in non-English languages (including Chinese) that only a few scientists can understand, and can be published again in international English academic journals. The premise is to obtain the consent of the editorial department of the first published periodical before publication.

(8) After the same paper is published in internal materials, it can be published in public publications.

The above-mentioned reissues shall fully explain to the editorial department of the journal all the repeated publications that may be mistaken for the same or similar research work, and attach copies of relevant materials; If necessary, it is necessary to obtain the relevant written materials for the first publication of the journal, and it can be published again after approval.
