Lili from Guangzhou No.80 Middle School
The ongoing new round of basic education curriculum reform is a comprehensive update of educational concepts and a reform of talent training mode. This requires us to change the past "cramming", "indoctrination" and "inscribing" talent training mode, turn the teaching process into a process of teacher-student interaction and * * * development, and pay attention to students' subjective participation and independent learning. Therefore, the new curriculum reform lists research-based learning as a compulsory course as the curriculum plan of full-time ordinary high schools. As a librarian, we should actively pay attention to the new curriculum reform, actively participate in research-based learning activities, carry out research-based reading, and be the server, method guide and equal collaborator of students' reading. Therefore, we should first understand the reading situation of middle school students today, so as to adjust the collection of books in time and give reading guidance.
First of all, set up a questionnaire and combine various means to understand the current situation of middle school students.
Only by clearly understanding students' reading situation can we better guide students to read effectively. The author cooperated with a senior teacher and conducted a questionnaire survey. The results show that in reading habits, only 22% students have the habit of reading frequently, and 74% students have the habit of reading occasionally. According to the students in our school, only about 450 people have the habit of reading regularly. This shows that middle school students do not attach importance to reading. This problem deserves our consideration and attention. The author believes that, to a great extent, the main reasons for this situation are not students, but schools, families and society. First of all, the collection of books in the school library is not rich enough and the updating speed is not fast enough. Students generally report that they can't borrow their favorite books. Secondly, students' schoolwork burden is too heavy, especially senior three students. Many students say that they only read books after class when they have little homework. Finally, parents' expectations are too high, and families and society have not created a good environment for extracurricular reading. Not many parents really support children to borrow more books and read more books, and actively help students choose books and guide them.
The knowledge structure, aesthetic taste and reading motivation of contemporary middle school students are very different. In terms of reading types, the favorite books of middle school students: literary works, popular science knowledge, political philosophy, historical classics and teaching AIDS account for 6 1%, 35%, 3% and 1 1% respectively. From the type of literary works, "Chinese and foreign literary masterpieces", "martial arts, romance, science fiction" and "comics" account for 50%, 38% and 24% respectively. It can be seen that a considerable number of middle school students' reading interests are mainly concentrated on popular literature and novels, which is related to students' appreciation level and the interest of reading materials themselves, as well as social atmosphere. It also reflects the blindness and randomness of middle school students' reading We should know that the choice of reading type, the width of reading range and the level of reading are not only related to the absorption of knowledge, but also have great influence on the training of students' mind and moral character. If they indulge in such books for a long time, their physical and mental health will be irretrievably hurt.
In the survey of reading methods, students think that the main reason why reading ability is difficult to improve is improper reading methods (59%), and some students have no sense of accomplishment in reading (465,438+0%). Only 20% students have a reading plan, and only 10% students often take reading notes. It can be seen that middle school students now hope to promote their study through reading, but the lack of effective reading methods is the biggest obstacle for students to read.
Two, timely adjust the collection, establish a rejection system to ensure the number of new books.
The school library doesn't just buy books and put them on the shelves. They must adjust their books in time according to the needs of readers and the development of the times. Nothing is eternal, nothing is static, and movement and change are eternal. Therefore, it is very necessary to adjust the collection in time and establish the system of eliminating the old.
In view of the fact that literary works, especially Chinese and foreign masterpieces, play an important role in cultivating students' sentiment and perfecting their personality. We should ensure that literary books account for more than 30% of all books. At the same time, we should firmly control the entrance of some "pocket books", monsters and horror books, especially violent and pornographic books, and limit the number of books on martial arts, romance and comics.
The development of research-based learning has stimulated students' desire to read and explore more, greatly increasing the breadth and depth of their reading. In particular, the demand for natural science and technology books has increased dramatically. Therefore, we should actively expand the collection of natural science and technology (that is, N~Z category). According to the provisions of the book classification ratio table in the revision of the "Regulations for Libraries (Rooms) in Primary and Secondary Schools", the collection of books in this part should reach 38%, and the breadth and depth of books should be appropriately relaxed to give students more choices.
The purpose of establishing an elimination system to ensure the number of new books in that year is to ensure the vitality of the library, eliminate some books that are outdated, excessive, low in circulation rate or seriously damaged and unreadable, and purchase some new books in stages every year according to the development of the new situation to import fresh blood for the library.
Especially with the development of new curriculum reform and the rise of research-based learning, we should buy more educational books, research-based learning guidance books, computers, computer network applications and mental health education books. And combined with the characteristics of our school, actively cooperate with our school-based curriculum. For example, our school is characterized by mental health education and environmental education, so our library pays special attention to collecting books, periodicals, newspapers and essays on these two aspects, and sets up counters for "psychological education" and "environmental education" so that readers can find such information quickly. It greatly saves readers' query time.
Third, according to the reading situation of middle school students, we should give reading guidance and guide them to carry out inquiry reading.
1 First of all, cultivate students' interest in reading. "Knowing is not as good as being good, and being good is not as good as being happy". Interest is the best teacher. Some parents and teachers often complain about the low reading interest of contemporary middle school students. Why don't they want to read those well-known masterpieces, but rather indulge in "pocket books" and martial arts, romance and animation? Some middle school students confided in the online forum: "The teacher asked us to read famous books rigidly. He stipulated how many books and articles you should read in a certain period of time. It was originally a very happy thing, but it was stylized. We are bored! " It can be seen that it is not that middle school students are not interested in reading, but that this interest has been dismembered and suppressed. So first of all, let students feel that reading is a journey to discover and appreciate beauty.
We can hold various types of reading classes or lectures according to the characteristics of middle school students' reading. Guide students to understand the rich social life, profound ideological content and outstanding artistic achievements reflected in works of different times, so that students can be influenced by beauty, pursue beauty, improve their cultural literacy and appreciation level, and cultivate healthy reading interest. You can also set up a "class reading corner" to use the herd mentality of middle school students to set off a reading craze.
2. Give students a stage to fully show themselves. Activities such as reading club, book review and speech contest can be held to attract students' participation and make them feel a sense of accomplishment in these activities, thus eliminating the sense of inferiority and disappointment without "sense of accomplishment" in reading. It can also create an atmosphere of "good reading, good reading, good reading, good reading" and attract them to pursue a high-level reading enjoyment.
When I was a freshman, we held a book review activity. The students were very enthusiastic and handed in a lot of book reviews. Excellent articles are displayed in the library window. We also held a reading club to gather students who love reading and thinking and give them a platform to show. We just need to guide them to determine a theme for each meeting, and then they will collect information according to the theme for discussion. The last reading meeting discussed topics such as "learning methods", "environmental protection" and "reading famous books", all of which were put forward by the students themselves and decided by their own votes. They speak freely in their activities, often sparking thoughts in generate, and often colliding with each other to generate new inspiration. After discussion, the members all wrote small papers, and excellent works will be published in the school magazine. Everyone feels that they have gained a lot, enhanced their expression ability and self-confidence, improved their ability to find information and enhanced their interest in reading.
3. Teach literature retrieval knowledge, so that students can master the golden key to open the treasure house of knowledge. Every year, we will give freshmen in senior high school library entrance education, introduce the basic knowledge of the library and the methods of document retrieval, and briefly introduce the classification of books so that they can learn to use the library.
4. Pay attention to reading guidance, cultivate students' good reading habits and improve their reading appreciation ability. A middle school student said in an online survey: "The language, plot and characters of classic novels have far greater influence on readers than popular novels. I cried when I read Turgenev's "The House of Nobles", which is much better than reading romance novels! " Classics with eternal vitality have condensed human wisdom and exerted a great influence on human history. Reading such books plays an important role in perfecting middle school students' personality and cultivating their sentiments.
In addition to holding a reading club to discuss the fun and gains of reading among members, a "good book recommendation" activity was also carried out among students and teachers. Really "everyone reads good books, and everyone comments on good books." Creative students also attached various backgrounds and illustrations to the recommendation draft, and its lively form and novel content attracted the attention of many readers.
5. In the process of reading, guide students to explore and think, so as to determine the correct outlook on life and world. Wang Ye, a senior one student, and other 16 students made a survey in Wangfujing Bookstore, Chongwen District Library and some websites during their holidays. Among the 30 students aged 17, 56% only read 1 ~ 5 extra-curricular books and 1 books a year. Only two people have read books above 10. "Lack of humanistic quality and humanistic feelings will make people lose the ability to live in harmony with the world." Wang Ye and others wrote in the survey of middle school students' reading situation. This is an example of students' participation and subjectivity. Our duty is to guide them to explore, to think, to think about their own and other people's behavior, as well as social behavior, so that their life direction is more clear.
