The main courses of musicology include world folk music, China traditional music theory, solfeggio, basic music theory, vocal music, piano, national musical instruments, figure and dance, chorus and conductor, basic harmony, China music history and masterpiece appreciation, western music history and masterpiece appreciation, art introduction, music aesthetics, song creation and composition, form and work analysis, concise orchestration, paper writing, etc.

The training goal of this major is to cultivate compound innovative talents with basic music theories, knowledge and skills, basic methods and abilities of music teaching, basic methods and abilities of musicology analysis and research, to meet the needs of social development and economic construction, to have good humanistic quality, strong innovation ability and business competitiveness, and to lay the foundation for further study.

After graduation, students can engage in teaching, research, editing and commenting on music education, Chinese and foreign music history, Chinese and foreign national music theory and music education theory in primary and secondary schools, cultural centers, social music groups, cultural enterprises and radio, film and television departments.
