In modern social and economic activities, computer technology, automatic control technology and power electronics technology have developed rapidly, and elevators have become a symbol of urban material civilization. Especially in high-rise buildings, elevators are indispensable vertical transportation equipment. Today, with the rapid development of high-rise buildings, the elevator industry has entered a new development period. Elevator control technology has developed to frequency modulation, voltage regulation and speed regulation, and its logical control has changed from relay control to PLC control. Many of its functions can not be realized by traditional relay control system.

In view of the present situation of elevator industry in China, this design applies PLC to elevator logic control. Through reasonable selection and design, not only the reliability, maintainability and flexibility of the elevator are improved, but also the service life is prolonged, the development cycle of the elevator is shortened, the control level of the elevator is improved, the comfort of the elevator operation is improved, and the ideal control effect is achieved. Compared with the traditional elevator, the elevator designed in this paper has good running comfort, saving electricity in life, achieving good economic and social benefits and achieving the ideal purpose. Elevator control system has the functions of floor pointing, hall calling, floor selection and direction selection, manual and automatic, and has the characteristics of centralized control.

On the basis of introducing the basic structure of elevator, the working principle of elevator is deeply analyzed, the advantages and characteristics of PLC are expounded, the hardware design and software design of elevator are emphatically analyzed, and the realization scheme of elevator control system design based on PLC is studied and put forward. Finally, the research content of this paper is summarized and prospected.
