Core journals are the grade evaluation of some journals with relatively high academic level in China, and the period when they are usually included by domestic core journal selection institutions is called core journals.

For example, the core journals of Peking University, Nantah and CSCD. To a certain extent, it represents the academic level of domestic experts and scholars, and it is the measuring condition for the evaluation of senior professional titles, doctoral graduation, study abroad, scientific research institutions and universities' advanced evaluation bonuses. Although the country does not clearly classify journals, most units will require the publication of 1-2 core journal papers in the evaluation of senior titles.

Grade classification:

It is usually divided into class A, class B and class C. Class A core journals are authoritative core journals, which usually refer to SCIE, EI, ISTP, SSCI and A &；; Periodicals included in HCI retrieval system or authoritative Chinese core publications of domestic classmates.

Class B core journals are important core journals, and Class C core journals are general core journals, that is, the core of Peking University. In fact, each school's classification of Class A, Class B and Class C is different, and it will increase or decrease according to the disciplines of its own school. Some schools only refer to the catalogue of core journals of Peking University.
