Later, he persuaded Yu Kan to join the central government. Ban Chao reopened the Silk Road, which had been isolated for 58 years, and helped the countries in the western regions get rid of the control of the Huns. It was appointed as a protectorate of the western regions by the Eastern Han Dynasty. Ban Chao has been operating in the western regions for 30 years, which has strengthened the ties between the western regions and the mainland.
