What should be paid attention to in postgraduate thesis defense?
Academic Hall believes that postgraduate thesis defense should pay attention to the following seven points, none of which can be less:

1, wear formal clothes for formal defense.

If it is a formal defense, you must wear a formal suit. Wearing a formal suit at least shows that you attach great importance to this defense and left a good first impression on the judges. Moreover, after putting on formal clothes, a kind of self-confidence will emerge from the bottom of my heart, forming an invisible gas field to help you resist some pressure. If you're worried that everyone else is wearing casual clothes and you don't fit in with formal clothes, take off your coat and wear only a shirt before going to the stage. In winter, you can wear a down jacket outside the formal suit to keep out the cold before the defense. When it's your turn to play, you can take off your down jacket and play. You don't have to wear a suit and coat in summer, just wear a white shirt.

2. Check the materials again before departure.

Isn't it just to get the judges to sign your defense materials and give you a high score? This is the original purpose and the ultimate purpose. Therefore, I would rather bring more materials than less, so I must bring them all. Especially the defense PPT, USB flash drive and defense form. In addition, remember to bring more pens and white paper in case of emergency. If you expect to wait a long time for your defense, bring a few plates of chocolate to replenish your energy at any time.

Remember the time of reply and arrive early.

Everyone's time is the most precious. If you are late, the judges have the right to think that you are not paying enough attention. At this time, in fact, they have given you a big bad review in their hearts. Next, they will naturally find fault in your defense. It is better to wait for the judges than to let them wait for themselves. If a group of people reply together in turn, it is best to go to the meeting before the first person replies. First, people who are familiar with the venue will be relatively timid in unfamiliar places, but after they are familiar with it, they will become home and feel more calm; On the other hand, it is to look at the questioning style and personality of the defense members, so as to know fairly well; Furthermore, get to the venue early, in case you find something wrong with your PPT, there is still time to remedy it.

4. Test the computer or PPT in advance

After arriving at the venue, before the members of the defense Committee arrive, take the time to test the computer. If you plan to use your own notebook, please test whether the computer can be connected to the projector correctly. If you use a computer at the defense site, you should turn on PPT to confirm whether the versions are compatible or not. To be on the safe side, it is suggested to save a compatible version and a PDF version on the USB flash drive before leaving for the defense site, just in case. Otherwise, once you find that your PPT can't be opened and there is no alternative, it may be too late to run back or borrow a computer from someone next to you. Capsizing in a small river ditch will be extremely annoying. You should develop these little habits in peacetime. On important occasions, people are often more likely to be stupid because of nervousness. Good habits will make you form conditioned and subconscious reactions, helping you to make fewer mistakes at critical moments.

The first two minutes are the most important.

Speaking the first few words after taking the stage is usually the most tense time, but it is often just the time for the judges to inspect you. They will give you an impression in your mind in the first two minutes. Whether you want to admit it or not, the first impression is very important: if they think you are not bad, they will involuntarily ask some simple questions. But if you are unhappy, you will subconsciously ask some difficult questions. So after I took the stage, I couldn't say how nervous I was. Take a deep breath first, look at them gently, and then smile. The opening remarks and the first few pages of the report must be memorized. A leisurely opening will make you form a strong enough atmosphere, calm down the judges and give you a good start. And a good start is often more meaningful than half the success in defense. Because they are very tired after listening to so many defenses, they may start to be distracted after a while.

6. Don't grab words in the questioning session.

In the questioning session, the most common mistake is to hear the judges' questions and feel that you know the answer, so you can't wait to answer them immediately, even if you haven't finished asking your own questions. Or think that the judges' doubts are wrong and want to correct the judges' mistakes immediately. In fact, you should listen to them patiently until they stop talking before you start answering questions. Besides, don't argue with the judges, they have your scores in their hands.

7. Three thanks are indispensable

First of all, before you start to talk about ppt, thank the judges first. People take time out of their busy schedules to participate in your defense. No one's time falls from the sky. Second, thank the judges after the ppt. People sit here and listen to you for a long time, and nobody owes anyone. Third, thank your tutor or teacher. If they are kind to you at ordinary times, you can naturally make a sincere expression. If they are not nice to you at ordinary times, pretend to make a sincere expression.

Finally, I wish all students a smooth defense and give themselves a satisfactory answer sheet. Live up to your youth and be grateful to meet you.
