Persistence is the Key to Learning —— Speech by Zhou Mengmei of No.4 (3) Squadron under the National Flag: 2007-4-25 14: 37: 44-. I'm Zhou Mengmei from Class Four (3). The topic of my speech today is "Persistence is the most important thing in learning". First of all, I want to tell you a story. On one occasion, Socrates, a great philosopher in ancient Greece, said to his classmates on the first day of school: "Today we only learn the simplest and easiest things to do. Everyone throws their arms forward as much as possible and then throws them back as much as possible. " Socrates said, and demonstrated it again. "Starting today, do it 300 times a day. Can everyone do it? " The students all laughed. What can't be done with such a simple thing? After a month, Socrates asked his classmates: "300 times a day, which classmate insisted?" 90% of the students raised their hands proudly. After another month, Socrates asked again, this time, only 80% of the students persisted. A year later, Socrates asked everyone again, "Please tell me, who else insisted on doing the simplest cutting exercise?" At this time, only one person in the whole classroom raised his hand. This classmate is Plato who later became another great philosopher in ancient Greece. The easiest thing in the world is persistence, and the most difficult thing is persistence. That's easy to say, because anyone can do it if they want to; This is difficult, because only a few people can really do it. Success lies in persistence. This is a secret that is not mysterious. The same is true of learning professional knowledge. If you really want to learn something, you must stick to it. At present, many of our classmates have participated in various special classes and chosen one major or another to study. There are not only our own good wishes to cultivate a hobby, but also our parents' ardent expectations for us. However, many students vowed before signing up, and the class was not finished. They are either bored or afraid of difficulties and flinch. As a result, they spent their parents' hard-earned money and wasted their time, but they learned nothing. Some students persisted until the end, and as a result, fishing for three days and drying the net for two days were still the same. This is the consequence of not insisting. We know that any success requires hard work and sweat, especially perseverance. Persistence is victory, which is an eternal truth. There are many other examples: Sima Qian spent 15 years writing Historical Records, Darwin spent 20 years writing The Origin of Species, and Marx spent 40 years writing Capital. So here, I want to tell all the students who study specialties that the most important thing is to have a persistent heart in order to really learn a specialty and master a skill. Students, we are all the sun at eight or nine o'clock, full of vigor and vitality. Let's study hard, study hard, persevere, learn our own specialties and hone our skills, and finally become a useful talent. Thank you!
