Folk dances in Jilin include yangko, dragon lantern, roller boat, butterfly flapping, double wrestling, Hua Gun, stilts and so on, all of which are performed together and collectively referred to as "yangko". Before liberation, rural yangko was twisted and sung, also called yangko; Rural yangko tour village, also known as "running yangko"; Town yangko is also called "dancing yangko".
Before liberation, the yangko team were all men, in pairs, one was "Shang" (dressed as a woman, also called "Baotou") and the other was "Xia" (dressed as a man, also called "fighting ugliness", called "a pair of shelves". A large group of four people (two vice frames) is called "stick drum". In the Yangko team, the "head drum", "two drum" and "three drum" are arranged orderly, and everyone has a fixed position. The "head stick drum" is the highest in the team, followed by "two stick drums" and "three stick drums". Dai Wensheng, the leader of the yangko team, is wearing a towel, a cloak and a folding fan. He is the only one who doesn't have a coat, so he is called "silly son" and "shirt puller". The tail of the yangko team is called "Lao Zuozi", which is also a posture: "Shangzhuang" is a coquettish old lady with two sticks in her hand and red peppers in her ears; "Xiazhuang" is a funny-looking hunchbacked old man with crutches. Some people in the Yangko team pretend to be the characters in the story, such as Green Snake, White Snake, Pig Bajie and the Monkey King. There are sixty or seventy people in the yangko team, and twenty or thirty people are young.
After liberation, Yangko eliminated "silly boy", "old man", "a pair of airs" and "big drum", and eliminated disguised men as women, men as men and women as women, regardless of urban and rural areas, only twisting but not singing.
